  1. I just got adobe premiere 6.0 and i'm trying to make a music video with clips that I've downloaded off some websites. The problem is I can't import them into adobe. I saved the video clips in my received files and everytime I try to import them I go to my received files folder, but I can't see them. Maybe it's because they're media stream files and adobe doesn't support that type of file format........ I don't know because i'm new at this.
I'm wondering if i'd have to convert the media stream file into an .avi or .wmv first?
Anyone know why I can't get the clips into adobe?
I asked on every video editing forum I can find but no one is helping.

    Thank you

Does Window Media Player able to play the clips ? If not, use GSpot and see what video codec is required.

    Thank you for replying.
yes I can play the video clips in windows media player.
I'm just wondering if it's possible to convert a "MS media stream" file into an .avi so that I could get it into adobe?(adobe can import AVI, MPEG files...etc.)
A lot of people use clips that they have downloaded off the web to make music videos.........this is really frustrating because I can't figure this out. I need help.........am I making any sense to anyone here?.lol

  4. so does anyone know how I can get these clips into adobe?
I'm really confused because the name of the file is: something.wmv and then at the bottom it says MS media Stream......So either it's a .wmv or a media stream....I don't know. Can someone help me here?

Like I said before, it plays fine in windows media player and when I go to my received files folder to view it, it's there, but when I try to import it into adobe and go to my received files, I don't see it.
Anyone know what the problem is?

Can adobe import .wmv files? because i'm not sure about that.( i'm new to adobe)

I'm guessing that it can't import media stream files because it doesn't work for me. If not, what video file converter can convert a MS media stream file to an .AVI so that I could import the stupid file into premiere to edit it?

someone who knows what i'm talking about here, please help.....This is driving me nuts. .lol

    Hi Lyndsi,

No, I don't believe it can. I have to confess, I've only used Premiere 6.0 for file.avi and file.mov.

Based on my experience, any file.wmv files, when opened, connect via the net and so that's why I don't think you'll be able to use them - I think they're streaming from elsewhere to your PC. But, I may be wrong as I'm not too familiar with the .wmv format.

However, when you are viewing the your chosen .wmv files this tool (Streambox VCR Suite) might be of use as (quote) "StreamBox VCR Suite contains all the StreamBox related software needed to capture media streams on the Internet (RM, RMVB, RAM, WMV, ASF, ASX)" (unquote).

What format they're captured to, I don't know. But it may be one that you can then import to Premiere. AVI at D1 resolution (720 x 480 / 576 (NTSC / PAL)) would be my first choice...

Doing some hunting around on the AfterDawn.com site (from where the "download" link for StreamBox takes you) it seems that "GetASFStream" might also be something to look into. See this page for the (Japanese) download page and a (rough) translation opf that page.

    Hope that helps. Good luck...
