I've used Winamp since the dawn of MP3 in the old school classic skin the whole time. I did finally upgrade to v5 but keeping the old skin still. However now that I've finally ripped my entire CD collection to MP3 (partly in preparation for the iPod I'm going to get myself one of these days) I have far too much music to just assemble playlists for everything. I have a vast array of genres ranging from classical to modern rock and everything in between in varying amounts. What I'm looking for is either a plugin or maybe even another player that will have "channels" for my music. Like say I build a playlist for each genre so they're like radio stations so that if I get sick of listening to techno I can hit a hotkey and "change the station" so to speak. I can just let the player randomize them (though a smarter randomization plugin would be nice).

For now what I've done is linked extended keys on my keyboard to open specific playlists and that has been working pretty well, but using up a lot of extended key functions. Just wondering if there was a plugin I missed for Winamp I missed that will rotate playlists from a single key.

I use Itunes and it works great. i haven't tried it, but i'm pretty sure it can divide songs by genre. and, as i discovered last night, the remote for my PVR-250 capture card works with itunes too
