Does it exist any such? DVD supports mpeg1 but most authoring tool either wanna reencode the video or it don't accept it all.

    I have tried
    Uleade DVD MovieFactory
    SpruceUP
    Sonic DVDit SE

I just wanna add some mpeg1 videos to a dvd without encode them again.

I just tried reencode only the audio to 48 khz(dvd standard) and then it works with SpruceUp.

  3. After encoding the audio to 48 KHz I was also able to use Sonic... Does anyone know where I can download a demo of spruceup? It seems to be the program that everyone likes best, and I can't seem to find a demo, or a place to purchase it. The link from vcdhelp.com comes up with a page not found error. Thanks.

  4. yes it worked with sonic dvdit also with 48 khz audio then I will probably use it instead....spruceup and sonic dvdit are kinda similiar, both are easy but I miss lots of settings and stuff.

hmmm...I'm going back to spruceup, sonic dvditse seems to convert the audio to uncompressed audio.

soggy: Do you have any app to easy convert the audio to 48 khz? not tmpgenc because when I use it the audio disseapers.

  6. Actually, if you want to speed up almost any DVD authoring software you are better working with demuxed audio/video files anways. Demux the audio using something TMPGEnc, reencode just the audio part to 48Khz. Change the file extension from MP2 to MPA and it will import into Spruce UP with no problems. If you don't try to remux the files before importing then you shouldn't lose audio/video sync. As long as the filenames are the same names (except for the file extension of course) Spruce Up will import the audio file automatically when you tell it to import the video. Using the scrubber to scroll through the video file to add chapters is also much faster and more accurate with demuxed files.

Spruce Technologies were taken over by Apple recently and they dropped Spruce Up from the line. The mantle of budget DVD authoring has been taken over by other companies like Pinnacle and of course, Sonic. Roxio have release a DVD authoring package that is supposed to be pretty good but it's overpriced.

  7. Actually I use TMPGEnc to make my audio streams 48KHz... but I encode the audio at 48KHz WITH the video. Herein might lie the root of my problem when I burn to DVD-Rs... Everytime I burn files to DVD-R they seem to double in size, it must be because I haven't seperated out the audio portion from the video stream. So I assume what is happening is that when I attempt to burn a DVD it is encoding the audio twice. Do you know if that might be why my files double in size when they get turned into vobs?

As for encoding an audio stream only into 48KHz, I would use Creative Wave Studio, that seems to do a pretty good/quick job of encoding files across formats... I haven't tried it yet in this type of application, but it would be the first place I turn. As I get deeper into this whole process I will report back with any success/failure that I have had.

are you using sonic dvditse or mydvd? because it converts all audio to uncompressed format and then will the size increase dramatically. 48 khz stereo uncompressed is = 1504 kbit/s=11 MB/min instead of mpeg layer2 about 224kbit/s = 1.6 MB/min.

alkieman: thanks for the tips...one less multiplexing step and it speeds up the chapters editing also.

  9. That must be it then... I am using Sonic DVDit PE. I like the program quite a bit, but if it will continually uncompress the audio (thereby causing the huge file sizes), then it isn't worth it. According to the math that you just showed, that is my problem exactly. Well, I guess I'll give spruceup a try and see if I can get lucky with it I'm sorry I wasn't more help with your question about the audio. Maybe as I get better at this I will be able to repay the favor

  10. How do you get a full version of SpruceUp? Or can you? I am willing to pay but it won't take my money. HEHE

  11. Im lost... Tried SpruceUp with Mpegs that I changed the audio to 48khz it looks like it takes them but nothing apprears on the asset list.

DVD movie factory. I cant seem to make a "DVD compliant MPEG" for the life of me. I have used Tmpg to mave every format available in the templates and no luck. I am begining to think I will be watching VCD movies on 2 cds instead of 3 movies on one DVD.
