The usual way: Extract audio and decode to wav with VirtualDub. Use your original source as video source only, the extracted wav as audio source in TMPGEnc.

No can do. It's not supposed nor intended to. Has never been. It's a video encoder. And very good at that. It's not that good as audio de/encoder.

I don't know why it's not working, but the last post is incorrect. It can do. If you have the AC3 plug-in then it's supposed to because that the only purpose of the AC3 plug-in.

I use the AC3 plug-in and it's as good as any other software I've used for AC3.

Since you have the AC3 plug-in, have you emailed the company to see if they can help?

  6. The DVD Author AC3 plug-in only supports 2ch AC3 it doesn't accept 5.1ch.If you want to make menus with 5.1ch AC3 I suggest DVDLab then transcode with DVDShrink.
This is from pegasys website:"*But Dolby Digital (AC-3) with 5.1 channels or other multi-channel sources cannot be encoded".Also you need to update the license periodically: www.pegasys-inc.com/en/info_lic_val.html

TMPGEnc can read AC3 audio with the AC-3 ACM Decompressor installed. Did you try raising the priority of the Directshow filter in TMPGEncs environmental settings?

Do you have any other AC3 codecs installed? It didn't work for me once until I went into ffdshows audio filter configuration and disabled AC3 (which was a bit annoying since when I installed ffdshow I unchecked the boxes for the audio codecs).
