    This writer has max write speed of X4, however, since re-installing XP the write speed is only X2. Could some please help...the firmware is 1.33 which is the latest version.

    Is it XP SP2? I had nothing but problems with SP2 and ended up taking it off and going back to SP1, no more problems.

    No I don't have XP SP2...I just tried some of the suggestions from other post, namely changing the transfer mode to DMA. In doing so, the write speed shown in DVD info is now X4...but it is still writing at X2....don't know what else to try
