  1. I followed these instructions exactly. When I use the Custom vcd 2.0 prfile I set up, I try to burn the mpeg that was created in Roxio, and I get the message "You need an MPEG Encoder that supports Video CD Encoding".

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I burn VHS to VCD so I can watch them on my dvd player. I used the setup that ATI has and selected VCD, but the sound was out of sync. So I completely removed the ATI card, and reinstalled it according to the guide that was listed here. I created the custom profile for VCD 2.0. But I got the above mentioned error when I tried to burn in and change it from mped to vcd using Roxio. Although the sound was perfect when I watched it on the PC. I tried nero as well and got the smae problem.

There has got to be a simple way to do this.

    Please help.

  2. Since you've got the All In Wonder card, have you considered using the TV output? My relatively old DVD player does not handled VCD so I'm using my new AIW Radeon for both capture and playback.

I was disappointed with the VCD quality even after following the directions for fine tuning MMC 7.1. Now after some effort and reinstallations, I'm using VirtualDub and Divx 4.11. At a bitrate of 900-950 the playback quality is much better than what I got following VCD instructions. And, I can get 90 min (two one hour TV episodes after removing commercials) onto on CD instead of one episode per CD.

My only complaint (which I'll probably post as a separate topic later if I can't figure it out) is the audio numbers. I don't know what audio codec to use in VirtualDub. The MPEG Layer-3 codec only goes to 56Kbps which seems low. I encode all my music CDs using lame VBR with a typical rate of 160-180Kbps. The DivX Audio codec goes higer, but it doesn't work.

  3. I have an AIW tv card my self and while the vcd template is OK I wonder if I could get better.

But..if the AIW template is at 1.05 mb and yours is less than that how can the picture be better? New to this so simple explanation good

Also, can you use virtual dub to record at a specific time? I like the time scheduler feature of the digital vcr.

    Thanks!

  4. I dont mind usinf the tv out. I just want to be able to backup my collection of Star Trek tapes. I have the entire Collection of TNG, and want them on cd's.

I just bought this card, so I would be able to do it. But I am having nothing but problems.

I have never used Virtualdub, or Divx 4.11. If i get these 2 programs I can copy my VHS tapes onto CD's?

Are there relatively ewasy to follow?

    Thanks,

    Dav

  5. Sorry for the newbie question, but if you use a lower bitrate, is it still VCD compliant? Will it still play in all VCD players?
