Ok, I've been using my 2wire DSL modem and 2wire Wireless PCMCIA Card in my Laptop. Now before I moved everything was working fine and I had no problems at all. But now it seems that every once and awhile I get disconnected for some reason (card losing connection with the modem).

I called SBC and they said that everything is fine and I shouldn't be having a problem. Only thing different is I now have my DSL modem connected to my desktop (Lan Cable) in the computer room and I'm also connecting to it on my laptop via wireless.

I unhooked it from my desktop for a day and would still get disconnected every now and then.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance,

    Venom

Disconnected from the local network? Or you Cable/DSL router disconnects from the ISP? Big difference.

Could be any number of things: interference, range, even someone trying to spoof your laptop's MAC address to get on your network. Doubt it has anything to do with the AP, more likely you should concentrate on your PCMCIA card. Keep an eye on the wireless link integrity and strength. Is this A, B, or G?

Also what he said. When something doesn't work as before, always look for recent changes first. In your case, everything worked fine until you "moved", right. So now you have a whole different environment and I suspect the problem(s) is there. How's the performance of the non-wireless desktop?. If that's good them SBC may be telling the truth and your basic connection is good. The it's probably location (of the router/access point vs the laptop), or your new location has a lot more active hot spots or interference than your old location. A Hawking Wireless Booster Antenna may help ($25).

Mine does that occasionally, the signal strength will even go as high as very good and all the way to low..... don't know why.
