I don't know if anyone has suggested this but is it possible to show the post count in the popup box when you hover over the Profile button?
it's the same thing as when you hover over a thread in the forum and it shows part of the post which is a great time saver sometimes
currently the hover box shows View User profile but it would be cool if the post count was shown below this 8)
this is to save having to click a members profile to see if they have been an active member due to them joining a long time ago, yet asking a rather noobish question
I know post counts shouldn't really matter but they do help sometimes and this would save 2 clicks![]()

I 2nd that. This is an *awsome* idea.. or variation thereof, using those pop
up baloons.
Having to open another window (profile) is too much wait for us still on Dial-Up,
and I won't waist my time posting/responding. That number can as usually
is important (no matter what past issues or nonsense that turned up, just
because someone got anoid at another's post count, but proved nothing)
.
It's a shame we all have to be punished (because in the long run, someone
is getting their way after all) Well, anyways.
MackemX 's idea is a great one, non-the-less
Cheers,

@gitreel, 2 clicks saved is 2 clicks for somewhere else
plus its a bummer when your batteries are just about running out on your cordless mouse, took me 8 extra clicks in this thread alone
I forgot to add, off topic shouldn't be included if possible. Like I said I'm looking for activity in the forums thats all
the forum posts would be cool if that isn't possible -
I'm sick of swapping batteries every few hours
but you are right, I am lazy
I'm looking for a cordless mouse with 2 sides buttons so I can go back with that. I did have one but it was wired -

lol, yup that's true
if the keyboard is in reach (also cordless so can be anywhere), I normally just use the Backspace key to jump back a page instead of moving the mouse
p.s. finally fixed the transparency on my avatar after how long, lazyitis has been overcome or is it because I was bored?

lol
, it's a piss take of some programmers and forum people I've met in my travels behind the scenes of the public DVD Backup world that's all
it's nobody here though
I reckon some do actually think they are Gods above us mere mortals. I think my old sig was I'm not a God, I'm mortal and equal to others and the truth will be known soon or something similar
it's sad really how they can think and act like that but I guess that's the type of person they are -

thats the k/m I have as it was just a temporary measure with an impulse buy until I found a good one (that was over 2 years ago!). I was surprised by it (good range and battery life). It was great before as I could just plug in the USB recharge wire and use it like a normal corded mouse until it recharged. The recharging part of the mouse has been broken about a year now. It's also on its last legs now as cordless stuff tends to hit the floor more times than corded stuff as there is no safety wire to stop it hitting the deck
if I use it consistently I get a fair few hours use out of it as it switches the optical off when not in use. The stupidest thing about the mouse is that it has a flashing LED when the battery is low so it eats more of my precious battery juice!. I also have a collection of rechargables for everything (remotes etc) and the keyboard just lasts forever anyway
truth is I'm too lazy to go looking for a replacement and I'm just hoping to come across one by chance before it dies on me -
Morning peoples...
case you all don't already yet know, Baldrick has add a new feature
to the webpage threads
A magnifier. Just point your mouse over it (after thread in question is located)
and the post count is displayed
Thanks Baldrick for this addition. It's really appreciated 8)
-vhelp 2671 -
I didn't know what you meant at first vhelp! for those who don't get it then its the little magnifying icon to the left of the profile button
works great, cheers Baldrick
very simple and very effective for those who use it occasionally but not in yer face 8)
what about doing the same for the join date and adding that the same popup? That way those who are bothered about join date and posts only have to hover over the button but cannot be a 'I joined before you so I know more than you' junkie. Those who aren't won't be any the wiser
post count whores have been tamed and so could the join date whores
p.s. am I pushing it by asking that you show post count without OT posts also in the same popup? -
Baldrick is something else
Here's to ya, boss -
Well, I don't recall seeing it last night. I lost my pc (it frooze on it when my
capture card does some funkyness when I switch to FullScreen view) and that
was around 9pm or maybe 10pm, but I don't recall seeing it at that time
But, I'm glad to see it's up.
I was just viewing another thread (elsewhere's) and still to this day, I mistakenly
look to my left for the post count. But I quickly remembed the magnifier, and
I was able to *quickly* view that poster's post count :P
It'll do.. (as Jody Foster says, in one of my favorite movies, "Contact" chp 3, 8min)

@Baldrick, n.p.
@Capmaster,
its a handy feature as I often use it to find my own posts when I need reminding of something 8) -

It's a security blanket and pacifier for those who have little else. A false religion of counting for those who don't know to put their faith in some real, concrete knowledge that actually works.
Most of you aren't even dedicated enough to be real post counters anyway. For you it's only a number, a real post counter shoots off one toe every 1000 posts.. Just a bunch of post count hoes here, not the clergy.

I hope you are not implying that to me seeing as you quoted me and my current amount of posts in this thread
if you take the time to read my initial post again slowly then you will see why I find this handy seeing as I spend most of my time actually helping others and don't really post whore
maybe you should have looked at my profile before looking stupid by quoting me in your post which implies I'm a post count junkie needing this feature as a pacifier etc :P
I can get my own security from my reputation in the DVD backup world and my own post count is irrelevant to me although I may occasionally get excited at 1,000 posts or so but wouldn't anyone?
take away the meaningless posts in this forum and I'm pretty sure I'd be up there in the top posters but it doesn't mean I am really a DVD God even though it's under my username
I've got 1,000's of other posts on other plenty other forums I can cling onto anyway
p.s I am really a DVD God so no apolgies needed as you are forgiven for not knowing who your creator is :P -
I can attest to the fact that MackemX is not a true post whore. 1,700 posts would make him only a wet-behind-the-ears pledge in the OT post whore world. I know, because I'm the elected president of the OT Post Whores Class of 2004. I know all the post whores here, and he's not one of us.
We tend to look upon people who post only meaningful stuff with a jaundiced eye over there. We don't trust them, and their unwillingness to "let their hair down" on a regular basisYou might say we're reverse-elitists
Just kidding. We have the "live-and-let-live" philosophy. One I highly recommend to anyone.
Seriously though, we have gone over the pros and cons of displaying post counts, and in the end, the decision was made to remove them, and the join date for that matter, by the only person here who has a real say in that - Baldrick.
It's only because of his generosity and sympathy for our post-post-whore-metric () culture shock that he decided to restore the join date, and now he has added the hovering post count feature. I say it's time to drop the subject once and for all
