I've been doing some VHS to DVD transfers, and often put 2-4 videos on one DVD (the videos range from 20-40 minutes each). I don't like making chapter menus. I prefer just a single menu for the entire DVD that has a list of the videos to choose from. I'm using TMPGEnc DVD Author. I select "Main Menu only" in the options, and have the action after each track (one video per track) is played set to "Return to Main Menu". When I play the discs in my standalone DVD player, while a video is playing, I have to press "Top Menu" on the remote to return to the menu. Pressing "Menu" does nothing. This seems a little "non standard". I've never seen a commercial DVD where pressing the "Menu" button does nothing. Sometimes the "Top Menu" button does nothing, but the regular "Menu" button always seems to have some action associated with it. I'm having blurry menu issues (as posted in another topic), and am thinking maybe this is due to the way these DVD's don't meet the DVD standards. Is there any way to make it so the regular "Menu" button also takes me back to the menu?
I read somewhere that IfoEdit might let me do this, but I've never used it. Is there an option in TMPGEnc DVD Author? If not, how do I use IfoEdit to do it?
Thanks,
Brent

I have that same problem too. But what's wrong with pressing the Title button? At least it works. I have found that when I author using the free application DVD Author GUI, you can return to the main menu using the Main Menu button. However, it does not have those visual menu editors like TDA. You must create your own background image for the menu and buttons. The buttons can have a maximum of 16 colors and must be in BMP format. You can go to their website to see some tutorials. It's pretty simple, but much more time-consuming than TDA.

I don't really have a problem with it, but sometimes I do VHS transfers for other people, and I don't want them to have a hard time figuring out how to return to the menu once a video starts playing.
Plus, like I said, I'm trying to figure out why standalone players distort the menu when they return to it (not when it first comes up... it looks fine at that point), and I suspect a non-compliance with the DVD standard format requirements could have something to do with it. I described this issue in detail here:
