Hello,
It was in my HANDS.....................

And then the darn Blockbuster copy wouldn't PLAY!![]()
I rented it tonight (it was actually there) but the DAMN DISC WOULDN'T PLAY!!!!This is happening about every other game I rent.
Well took it back to exchange it and of course there weren't anymore copies of Battlefront left.
I ended up renting Prince Of Persia Sands of Time. COOL! It looks like its gonna be a fun rental. In fact, depending on how hard it gets I may look for a used copy. The graphics are excellent.
Though, one fault, NO BASS!I have a nice 80 watt dolby digital/dts Sony receiver and a 50 watt sub - NO BASS! What is this???
Oh well, it should be fun.

Prince of persia RULES!!! Only one fight is challenging(notice I didnt say hard) and it can be easily beaten with a rental. POP2 comes out nov. 19th I believe...cant wait.

My sister got me the PC version of SW Battlefront for XMASS, finally installed it about a week ago.
Man is it addicting.
Multi-Player has been working excellent. I do have the ver1.1 patch installed maybe that's why others had issues in the beggining? Nice thing about the PC games is you can get updates and fixes.
I can see where regular gamers would think its so so and SW fans would love it.
I'm an SW fan so guess what. Last weekend was playing on line and looked at the clock and it was 5am. Guess you lose track of time when your chatting and sniping someone from the roof of a Besbin platform.
Been playing quite a bit online, so if anyone is interested I'm listed as bernie.
Not sure what caused the issues that others had, but I can honestly recommend this game if your a Star Wars fan. If your not going to play it online, then I don't recommend spending the money, it's much more fun that way. -
Nice thing about the PC version is the patch gives you some levels you can't play on the XBOX. It is beautiful and very addicting to play. I have it on PC too, but haven't played much. A friend of mine can only play the clone wars campaigns in single player mode only. His video card is only 32MB and he didn't pay attention to the system requirements of 64MB. I'm surprised the game plays as well as it does on his PC. Very good job at creating the game.
-
Yes it has some extra levels like Jabbas palace. Not sure what others are different.
And there are mod tools out there where people have been creating their own maps that you can download and play.
Friend can only play Clone wars? Well actually I probably like being the clones the best with that jet pack guy in certain situations.
There is a patch out there you can download so you can play the game without putting the disk in the drive. Makes it much harder to pass by the Battlefront Icon on the desktop without clicking on it.
EDIT - Tried using a gamepad on the computer to play, it sucked. A mouse is so much more accurate and faster for aiming. Don't think I'd be able to do well on a PS2 or XBOX. -
I've tried the PS2 version and it works okay, but I like the ease of the keyboard & mouse. On hard mode, I've been able to get "116" for Public Enemy with the Clone Fighter. The CIS took the Command post in the ice cave and the clones took all the other posts. I sat at the rear entrance and fired all the way into the cave continuously. I also got traitor (6) because all the damn clones kept walking in from the side while I'm firing. Some help Elite Training did. :/

Just get it on computer. Why buy extra things you have on your computer anyway. Even Microsoft said themselves, what's the purpose of making a game system when a computer can do it as well. There were people who just wanted to use the controllers and have a thing for consoles. MS decided, why not make a console and get some money off it. The thing is 90% PC equipment and parts. Dammit, just buy a PC and play the games.

Yoda313:
I see you can download updates for the XBOX, can PS2 do it also I wonder?
Doramius:
I try to stay off the hard setting. The AI gets auto aiming in that mode and they never miss. I'm not that good, so I stick with medium.
Yoda313,
Let me know what you think of the keyboard mouse option vs joystick and if it gives you an advantage against others on the XBOX. -

The XBOX updates aren't nearly as good as the PC. And they are limited. MS is putting together a team to come up with a 2nd generation XBOX. Rumor has it that it may have the capability to link LIVE between XBOX 2nd generation users and PC users. Wether that willl happen or not still has yet to be seen. My curiosity is why do they need to make a 2nd generation XBOX?
-
Because the 1st generation is a 733MHz P3 with much older graphics capabilities and an 8GB hard drive?
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore. -
SO we throw in a 3GHz P4 processor, 256MB DDR graphics capabilities, and a 40GB Hard Drive.
DAMMIT, buy a PC!!!!!!! -
BUMP!!!!!!

But JABBA's Palace is sweet!! Haven't gone on LIVE with it yet but tested it against the bots - Already gotten eaten by the RANCOR!!
This is fun...

When in Jabbas palace, ;learne to use th missle guy with mines, you will dominate a lot better.
Learn to hide mines around corners and such.
you'll have a blast.
If your on the lower level, place mines near the Rancor, so if someone falls through, they land on your mine and you get a kill. fun Fun fun.
Very adicting game for us star wars fans. ha ha. -
Hello,
Thanks for the tips
KevinDonatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
wakening an old thread I see. Here's some scores I got. This is on the hard level. I love using AT-ATs and the ships on HOTH. I'm also pretty dang good with the rebel & imperial land cruiers. The first shot is from Jaba's Palace. THe second is from Rhen Var.
-
Doramius, you play online with the PC version ever?
Nice scores by the way. -
Can't currently. I'm in a pissing match with Electronic Boutique because they sold me a copy for $30 with an AS-IS clause and the code was pulled from online. I tried returning it, but they will only accept it as if it were a used game and give me half of what I paid for it. Even though I have the receipt. I shot a message online to the corporate people, but haven't heard back, yet. but I sent it only recently. I have played in a LAN setting and still get pretty high scores though. I'm usually the first to get a vehicle and destroy half the enemy force. In Jabba's Palace I try to take over the command posts as fast as possible and surround the enemy at one point. the gammorean's are the biggest threat at that point as the enemy is like fish in a barrell. I usually start with 200 guys, after I surround the other team, the teams are even around 170. after the game is over, I'm usually still at 140-150 guys. In Rhen Var, I run through the ice cave as fast as possible and try to get in a land cruiser. The rebel cruisers are excellent for taking out anything. Very manuverable for dodging enemy fire. I lay pretty close to an R2 unit and get repaired fairly frequently to stay in the game longer. THe best thing for getting the high scores is using the vehicles. Took a bit of time for the ships, but once mastered, they are the best thing for destroying anyone. I found it easier with the PC version. A friend of mine has it on PS2 and I'm horrible with trying to figure out the controller.

I just hope they do an upgrade or something with Battlefront. I was disappointed that there wasn't a clone wars setup for Hoth, or a galatic setup for Kamino. I know it's outside of the movies, but I think it would be pretty cool. I also was hoping to see naboo fighters and other vehicles. even a nice space DOG-Fight board would have been really cool. I think they could have gone so much further. Maybe in the near future though. [wishfull thinking]
-
There are a tons of custom maps for the PC.
There is a huge Hoth map with like 5 ATATs and it covers a large battle area with tons of tunnels in the Ice.
There is also a Deathstar Map that is pretty much what your looking for in a dog fight. Lots of fighters and turrets.
http://starwarsbattlefront.filefront.com/file/Hoth_Escape;36626
http://starwarsbattlefront.filefront.com/file/Death_Star_Trench_Run;35845
Browse around, there are other maps there that are very good also. -
thanks. I knew there were more maps, but I've been focusing most of my attention to EB and the little scam they just ran on me. right now I'm trying to get a Battlefront key so I can play online. new maps are the next priority on the list. Thanks for the info though. I'll probably check them out tonite.
-
I checked out the sites and tried the maps, however, I was a bit disappointed by the DeathStar Trench Run. I did download the map editor and am working on my own trench run level. looks good so far. it's a really long and narrow board, though a good ability to turn around. I've made it so there are X-wings, A-Wings, and both tie fighters can be used. There are CPs in the middle for ground attack, but it's mainly meant for aerial attack. I'm currently working on the bunkers for the trench guns. I'm trying to make it as close to the movie as possible. I just need to figure out how I'm going to work out the coloring of the trench, and the artwork for the sky. I think there's a nice sky artwork with Star Destroyers I might use. haven't figured out how to use it though. still a good work in progress. I'll let you know when I'm finished.
-
Sorry you were dissappointed.
That new one your working on sounds pretty cool. Definitely let me know how it comes out.
Remember when your an anti-Armor unit with mines and your trying to take over a CP, place mines on the spawn points, and as soon as they spawn..Boom.
Great technique for Jabbas Palace. -
Hello,
I don't know about anyone else but I was always a little bummed about the flight controls in BATTLEFRONT. I guess it comes from years of playing XWING and the TOP NOTCH flight responses in that series......
Kevin
PS - I know battlefront is mainly a SHOOTER game but whenever you get to fly an XWING its hard not to compare it to the LAWRENCE HOLLAND video game series.
I even got a limited edition SIGNED box when I ordered my copy of XWING ALLIANCE when it first came outDonatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
Yes I agree with the flight controls.
For Starfighter and ground fighters, I set my mouse response sesitivity to 10(default is 5). Its a setting under controller options.\
This will give you better response, give it a try.
I definatley noticed a difference the first time I tried it. -
Hello,
I have the Xbox version only - but I'm sure there's a sensitivity slider. I'll check it out thanks
KevinDonatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
I set my mouse sensitivity to 10 also. Seems fine for me now. I wonder if theres a way to have the PC boards be converted for use with XBOX?
I just realized my board was also WAY TOO BIG. had to shrink it down. Didn't realize how big the 256X256 boards were. Mine will be 300X900. Very long. Good for chasing people a while in the jets. Each side will have at least 32 ships. 26-1man, 6-2 man fighters. I'm also having a small difficulty with the bunkers at the moment. I need to figure out how to make caves, as that'll be how the bunker is made. The gun turrets will be inside set up similarly to the way they are inside the command buildings on BESPIN-PLATFORMS. At the rate I am going, it'll be a while. I might just chince out with a V1.0 just to get a good trench run board out there (IE: open turrets w/out bunkers, plain black background, etc.). I could then come back and get cool new add-ons in later versions I update it to.
Here are some shots of the wire frame I got going so far:
-
Hello,
Doramius - yes you can get a keyboard adapter for the xbox.
I have one.
BUT its very twitchy. The keyboard works ok but the mouse sensitivity is wacky. I changed the sensitivity both ways in the game. Too fast and it clicks awkwardly. Too slow and its smooth but you can't react quickly enough.......
