ok not sure what everythin is but i use a cable with 3 plug (red, yellow and white) and plug them into the front of my tv in the AV2 IN port or the other way is with a connector that goes in the back of the tv
Thats the problem, the Composite leads with the 3 coloured plugs are useless and were designed for Camcorders years ago, picture quality is pretty poor for a start, and the NTSC color signal cant be processed with them.

The connector that goes in the back of the TV, what is it?

Is it an RF lead, like a usual TV aerial lead or is it a Scart lead which would be a large black cable, with 21pins at each end.

the connector i use is a adapter where i can plug the 3 coluored plugs into and then the plug goes in the back of the tv

An extract from that bottom link I gave you (which you obviously didnt read..........)

Other hack posted by domden, May 11 2003:
    NO COLOUR PROB,S

IF YOU ARE HAVING PROB,S WITH REGION 1 DVDS PLAYING IN BLACK & WHITE JUST USE A FULLY WIRED SCART LEAD (FULLY WIRED NOT THE CHEEP CRAP) AND SET YOUR PLAYER TO R G B IN THE VIDEO OUT MENU . HEY PRESTO YOU HAVE COLOUR !!!! . THIS PROCESS WILL WORK ON ALL PLAYERS WITH THIS PROB . IF THIS DON'T WORK THEN BUY A DECINT TV AND STOP TRYING TO USE STATE OF THE ART DVD PLAYER WITH A RELIC TV .

Squid, Monzie is right, you have to ditch those leads, they are very shit quality, you will have to get a decent Scart lead, apart from sorting the colour, it will also improve the picture quite a bit, bye bye jaggies.

You can get a decent one from most hardware places, Maplin aren't bad, expect to pay £5 - £10 quick for a basis one, mines is £50, but im quite fussy.

Its up to you whether its easier to re-encode it to PAL, or you'd rather buy a new cable, but if your gonna get any more NTSC films, then id invest a bit of cash.

  6. If it's anything like my Pioneer, you:

    - Get to the idle screen (no disc)
    - Press "Setup"
    - Go to "Initial Settings"

You should be able to get to it from there. Failing that, take a look in the manual or explore the player for yourself.

Yep, Richer Sounds is a good choice, especially the Cambrided Audio ones, that second one looks to nice too hide behind a TV.

My whole setup is from Richer Sounds, apart from the TV, im like a kid in a sweet shop in there.

Yeah there should be some sort of Video out or display options, i would just mess about until you find it, you cant really do any harm.

It isnt just NTSC DVDs which will benefit. Try out any PAL DVD you are familiar with, and I'll bet you find there is a stunning improvement in quality...

Yep, absolutely, Composite into Scart is a very poor way to watch DVD's, RGB eliminates all the Jaggies and sets the colour to a much more natural setting, though if you dont like it, you are stuck with it as you cant adjust it.
