    Hello,

For those of you who love extra material on dvds I have noticed many bonus discs are single layer only. This means they have less to talk about and offer for the movie.

Two examples - Matrix Reloaded disc 2 - just single layer

Star Trek The Motion Picture Director edition - just single layer

There are a lot that are dual layer -

All LOTR Extended Edition - HUGE discs
All Star Wars DVDS - prequels and just released classic trilogy.

Any thoughts??? Should all bonus discs be dual layer and squeeze as much on them as possible?? Or is single enough when there isn't as much background material???

  2. Surely thats a no brainer.

If they only have enough info for a dvd-5, why put it on a dvd-9, it would be a waste.

    Hello,

Hardcoreruss - Yeah I guess so. It just seems that some movies put more effort into their bonus discs warranting the dual layer disc. I mean the amount of material created for ANY movie could easily fill two layers. It just seems like some companies only put a half hearted effort into the bonuses.

I've gotten about half that were dual-layer, and some where the bonus disc is actually larger than the movie.

    Hello,

Two that were surprising were Jurassic Park 3 and The Mummy Returns. Both were single discs with movie and bonus material. The video quality of the movie was excellent with a TON of bonus stuff to boot!
