Or hopefully one of us, using the info described at digitalFAQ.com, can create a hack to remove it, and maybe get that 3 hour mode too...Originally Posted by EvilWizardGlick

My iLO's been flashed more times that Paris Hilton at a Pep Rally. (Really sorry about that) The firmware, once burned to CD, knows what to do. I've gone back to a previous firmware (1185) because iLO's obviously gone insane releasing this latest version.
Yes, you can remove the hard drive and put another in. I believe it was Normando either on this board or another that did it. He said that the HD04 will format it and use it just like the old drive. In fact, he even fit his unit with a removable drive. The drawback is the recorder will only see a larger drive as 80 gigs. So, if you put a 160 in it, it'll only use 80 of it. Hope I'm remembering this correctly. -
Ilo emailed me the new macro firmware for the DVDR04 but its not listed on the website yet. I dont have a way to put it on the net. Anyone want to host it for me? Pm me and I will email it to you.

All I can say is that I'm glad I didn't hold my breath waiting for an update "this week..."

I'm having an intermittent problem with my DVDR04. Sometimes when using "CM skip", which skips forward 30 seconds, the unit locks up. This is on material I have recorded from TV and occured on two different brands of +RWs. Anyone else have this problem?

Either that page hosts firmware for the Ilo's or there is a link there. I can't recall which it is. -
The update has addressed the issue with skip and ffw rrw. I have not went with it enough yet to see about the hum sound from tuner as I dont use the tuner of the ilo to record with. Anyone else want to check it out I put it up in my server here

Thanks to kcsport for sending it to me -

No 3 hour mode in this one maybe next.
The just fit mode would be better. All us that send in request to them should ask for just fit as it is better then 3 hour mode. -

Thank you for the link.
I upgraded without a hitch. I had to reset everything, no big deal less than five minutes.
I tried one blatant MV tape, copy protected came up. I'm doing another tape now, so far no problem but the MV flag was random anyway. It may take a number of tapes to see if they fixed it. -
I have updated my ILO Firmware Page to include the DVDR04. It now has the new firmware update for the 04 that is suppose to relax the Macrovision sensing.

Has anybody had any troubles using 'NON-OFFICIAL-SUPPORTED' DVD+R/RW media in their set-top recorders?
In the past when ever I purchased 'Memorex' DVD+RW disc's they were always "CMC MAG W01" media.
My local 'CompUSA' had/has a 25 pack of 'Memorex' brand of DVD+RW on sale for $9.99... so I picked up a pack to find that the media code is now MBIPG101W03 {see listed below} and while the test two hour record played back fine in the box that recorded it I have not tried the disc in another set-top-playback .....

Liteon has on there site the US version firmware for the 502x and 504x liteon. Maybe we can now get something rolling for the ilo units.

Just in case someone over at the TechoLiO board forgets to mention it here, the DVDR04 has now been "updated" to add the 3 hour mode, and MV has been removed!!!
Drop over to the site and check out the topic under "DVD Recorders and DVR Devices" and look for the posting titled "DVDR04 Modified for 3HR mode!!!!!!!!!!!!"

There is now a "Update" from iLO for the DVDR04 on the iLO site!
Version is 97. -
Please visit my ILO DVDR04/HD04 Firmware site for the latest firmware upgrades for the DVDR04 recorder.
The site includes the latest firmware 1097 for the DVDR04, hacked to include LP 3-hour mode and disable MacroVision. -
How would I connect the DVDR04 to a older Zeinth TV with only a TV cable connection to it... I want to record my wifes soaps on a DVD for her.???????

If you have more than one video device (VCR, Tivo, Video Game player) to hook up to your older TV go to the video game dept, they have a unit with 5 push buttons that you can connect up to 5 video devices to your TV. It's a good deal for $20 and it has a built in RF Modulator, and includes cables. You could also I believe run your ilo into your VCR's RCA inputs, and connect the VCR to the TV with the screw on co-ax cable (TV cable type connection) if you have upgraded to the firmware that defeats MacroVision (you would need that for when you playback regular DVD movies).
-
canadateck, I may be wrong but, according to the manual using the VHS\UHF jacks (co-ax) you will not be able to output the DVD signals. I believe those jacks are there to: 1. input a cable TV, or TV antenna signal for use with the ilo's built in tuner. 2. output that cable TV, or TV antenna signal to another video device like a VCR, but again you will not be able to see what the ilo is playing when playing a DVD. It is just a pass thru of the VHS\UHF jacks input connection. I can't say this is true for sure as I use S-Video connectors myself.
-
geno52; I don't know if this will work for the ILO or not. Try running the cable tv cable to the VHF/UHF input of your ILO then run a cable from the ILO's VHF/UHF output to your tv's VHF/UHF input. Setup the tuner in your ILO and use the ILO for the tuner. Then try tuning you tv to channel 3 or 4. If this doesn't work then you need a rf converter like bobcat56458 suggested

Try this
Cable come in. Splits. A side go to Modulator. B Side go to DVDR04.
Out of the Composit/L-R Audio output from the DVDR04 goes into the input of the modulator. Out of the modulator coax output goes to your tv. Simple.
NOTE: if tv is NOT stereo. Then grab one of the cheep non stereo output modulators from Walmart. The rest of the hookup is the same.
PS: A picture is worth 1000 words...
