it would sure help if you said what model -- but i'll just guess anyway

    General Comments:
I contacted Orion who support the SANSUI recorder. Below are my questions and their response:

My Question 1) Has there been a firmware update for the VRDVD4005? If not, will there be one?

Orion's Answer to 1). There is no firmware update for the VRDVD4005. Our techs tell us that none is needed. Some brands of the blank discs have an insert with a warning & mentioning a firmware update being needed for some machines. This is in regard to the capable write speed of the disc & the write speed of the recorder. Our machine records at real time only (1X) so that is not an issue.

My Question 2) Do you know how I can play multi-region DVDs on the unit?

Orion's Answer to 2). Our unit is designed to play region 1 disc only. Please be advised that Federal Regulations require that these units be manufactured with a specified region applied. This provides some protection to the movie industry copyright laws. We do not provide a method to override this feature.

My Question 3) Is there a punch code on the remote that will allow more settings for additional configuration of the unit?

Orion's Answer to 3). There is no punch code that will allow for more settings for additional configuration of the unit? There might be a model later this year that will have additional features but that will be a different model number.

My Question 4) Is there a possibility of SANSUI updating the firmware to allow permitting DVD+RW & DVD+R recording?

Orion's Answer to 4). There are no plans at this time for updating the firmware to allow permitting DVD+RW & DVD+R recording?

    and another model

EEPROM on puolestaan Atmel AT49F8192AF
Lisäksi löytyi Aimtron AT5654H chip. TV Encoder puolestaan on CS4955
