    Before I plunk down top dollar for Taiyo Yuden discs, I was wondering if any one has burned Ritek G05 8x discs at full speed (8x) on a nec 3500 with official firmware (not hacked)?

    I can't answer that, but look at the brite side, TYs are getting cheap too!
    I am planning to order TYs to try this week now that I am finnaly getting low on the 4Xs I had in stock.

    I have burned these at 8X as well as 4X on my stock 3500 and they are great. By the way, NewEgg has them this weekend for $39 after rebate for 100. Note that TYGO2 discs will burn at 12X on the 3500. I haven't tried them yet.

    Chas, Yuden T02's (The +R 8x TY's) will burn at 16x w/o hacked firmware on the 3500. And they're great. Look under the threads I've started, and you'll see scans of both types of TY.
