  1. I have a LiteOn 5005 and I'm a little confused about my problem.
If I use other DVDR's other than the one LiteOn supplyed I cannot open the VOB's in TmpgEnc (2.59).
I have tried SONY DVD-RW and FUJI DVD-RW and TRAXDATA DVD+RW
and I always get this message "R6025 - pure virtual function call" and "xxxxxx.VOB can not open, or unsupported".
However, when I use the DVD+RW supplyed by LiteOn I get no error messages and the VOB's load just fine.
I go about in the exact same way when recording on the TRAXDATA and LiteOn discs.

It always works to import the VOB's to Ulead DVD Workshop 2. Workshop 2 makes mpg files out of the vob's but if I then try to load the mpg file into TmpgEnc the same thing happens as with the vob's.

How can the LiteOn record differently on different +RW's? Is there something I'm not getting here
    Any suggestions?

  2. Have you updated your firmware? The burner's firmware determines which writing strategy is used for different media. Your media may not be covered by that version of the firmware.

  3. No I haven't, mainly because I can't download it on LiteOn's homepage. When I try I get the following message: "The SN you specified is not correct, please try again". I have seen on forumposts that a lot of people get this message.

I have however downloaded the latest firmware with a hack that disables Macrovision. I haven't tried it yet but since it is a version of the latest maybe I should try...

  4. By the way...what do you mean by "writing strategy"?

  5. The firmware can change the writing speed of the burner depending on the media. Some hacked firmware push the writing speed past the rated speed of the DVD media and could create DVDs that may have playback problems.

  6. Now I have tried TMPGEnc DVD Author and it opens the VOB's ok and I can edit the VOB's and make new changed DVD. But if I try to open the new DVD I made in TMPGEnc I still get the same error messages. How could that be? The new DVD is stored as a VIDEO_TS folder on my computer and it still doesn't work.

You used TMPGEnc DVD Author to create DVD compliant files so what are you trying to do with TMPGEnc at this point?

  8. I would rather use regular TMPGEnc 1.59 because I want to make VCD SVCD and so on. I like the program and think it's one of the best. There's a lot of setting as you might know...

I only tried the TMPGEnc DVD author to see if it was able to open the VOB's that TMPGEnc 1.59 couldn't

I didn't know that TMPGEnc can accept .VOB files as input.

  10. Well, you have to download it. It isn't included in the program.
So far it has worked perfectly. That's why I can't figure out what the problem is with the LiteOn recordings.

I also tried to make a copy using DVD shrink and it just closed while reading the disc.

    I'm a little bit confused....

  11. If you want to create VCD/SVCD from a DVD source, use DVD2SVCD. Look on the left for guides under Conversion.

  12. Yeah...but I really want the quality provided by TMPGEnc. And what could be simpler than opening the VOB directly into TMPGEnc and go...
    I hate pixelisation.

  13. Whoops, I now noticed that it was only the last VOB on my DVD+RW disc supplied by LiteOn that worked. Now when I tried the other ones it gave the same error messages at before.
    Bummer.....
