While backing up a dvd movie, I can preview the movie as well as menus and Extras in the preview window. Noticed on a couple movies that there was NO sound on some of the extras. Video was just fine. Go to PowerDVD and play the dvd and the sound is there on the extras. Burn the backup to DVD+R and as in the preview window, no sound on Extras. Any ideas? I use Recode but figured I would try Shrink to see if any difference. No sound there too... only does it on certain movies. Help?

should say per previous post that when I play through PowerDVD, I am playing the files that I ripped onto HD... therefore doesn't seem to be a ripping problem. Seems to be in the way that Recode and DVDShrink analyzes the files. Ideas?

    LawnCowboy,

Sounds like too many of the Audio Files are being disabled.
Check your settings in both programs.

    LawnCowboy,

    Try this in DVD Shrink:

After Analysis open the Extra in the Preview window.

When it starts playing right click on the Preview window and choose "Audio" from the pop-up menu. Does it show any audio streams ??

You can see a graphic on this guide:

    http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/dvdshrink31-main.htm

If it doesn't show the necessary audio Streams then you'll need to adjust your preferences.

    See here - http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/dvdshrink31-main.htm

    Hope this helps,

    Moonstomp.

Thanks Moonstomp.. I did what ya said and it works as well for Recode... guess 5.1 was selected when extras are usually 2 channel... have to try it after recorded. don't know why certain ones do that when others select the right audio track by default... thanks again...
