I've been messing around the idea of forums for a little while, and I've come across one problem. Categorizing and wording aren't exactly one of my strong points, so I was wondering if I could run a few things buy you guys.Basically, I believe I want a place to talk about computers, gaming, and everything else. I've broken it down to this so far:
xxxxxxxxxx (the place to talk about computers, no name yet.)
-Computing and Technology
-Graphics and Web Design
-Programming and Scripting
Gaming
-Computer
-Console
-Other
General Discussion (the place to talk about everything else.)
-Off Topic (?)
-XXXXXXXXXX
-XXXXXXXXXX
Does this seem to cover pretty much everything? I know some people are naturally witty and could come up with forums and subforums in minutes, unfortunately I am not one of those people.Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated.

How about "Hardware" or would that be covered by "Computer"?

I'd split up graphics and web design, they are two seperate things. Either that or a different name...Web design and Graphics for the Web.
Personally I'd just roll with it and add or subtract topics as they are needed. Try keeping your list small unless you get the kind of traffic this site gets. -
I'm thinking about completely throwing out my ideas already. :P Would you like something like this better?
Computing and Technology
-Graphics
-Hardware
-Programming
-Software
-Web Design
Thanks for the help so far. -
A little bit of an update...
Computing and Technology
-Digital Imaging
-Hardware
-Programming
-Software
-Web Development
As for the gaming section, how would you guys go about organizing it? I see two options:
Gaming
-Console
-Computer
-Other
or
Gaming
-Microsoft
-Nintendo
-Sony
-Other
I'm still at a loss for words on the forum that contains everything else.I forgot how much I liked "Computer" here.
Edit: I've done some more thinking. Where would video editing go? Also, what about a place to show off computer mods (lighting, case, etc...,) would that fit under hardware? Sorry about all the questions, I just don't want this to look like something a 9 year old girl worked on. :P -
How about for gaming....
Blood and Guts
Other Crap No one Plays
Like I said before keep it simple and aim the list at your target audience, the first gming list looks like a good choice. Video Editing would probably go under Computing I guess.
How about "Shit that doesn't fit anywhere else" for other. -
Eh, I guess I should have given a little more detail. It was setup like this:
Forum Category
-Forum
-Forum
-Forum
:P
