I ordered a 100 pack of Ritek G05 8X DVD-R (Silver Shiny) DVDs from cdrdvdrmedia.com & started having problems with my Liteon-812SX even recognizing the media. Being suspicious, I decided to look at the media code (see below) & Ritek/Ridata wasn't even listed. I'm now thinking I received cheap media (have always had success with Ritek). I've asked for a refund, but have received no answer from cdrdvdrmedia.com. Has anyone seen this media before & have an idea what brand this is?

Thanks for everyone that replied. It does look like I had a media mixup. On the positive side, cdrdvdrmedia contacted me today & I have arranged for a replacement shipment. They were prompt (several email & a phone call) to straighten everything out.

Lesson learned is to check out your media code before burning. If something looks incorrect, send it back.

  5. FYI, as far as I have been able to determine, if you order Ritek DVD -R 8X the only code you should get is G05. There is a code G06 in some firmwares but no one, as yet, has actually seen any media. I have burned some G05s at 4X on my NEC 3500 and the burns are almost perfect with PI errors close to 10 and PIF 2or better.
Still a few bugs in the system...
