Could someone provide a brief explanation of how codecs (particularly video codecs) are handled in a Windows 2000 environment? I am confused regarding where to look to determine which codecs I have installed, how to identify which codec is which, how to install and unistall codecs, etc.
For example, I know that I have an MPEG2 codec and an MJPEG codec installed because I can view MPEG2 and MJPEG video using WPP6.4, but I don't see these codecs via Control Panel -> Sounds and Multimedia -> Hardware -> Video Codec.
Any and all help much appreciated!
