  1. The funniest I thing I remember from the 80's happened when I was about 12, so around '85. I remember showing my mom a Cure poster, pointing out Robert Smith and telling her I wanted his haircut! I do believe she completely freaked! But, unfortunately, I never got it!

MO Jackets, believe they were mentioned, but was my favorite piece of 80's wear. Still have a couple, matter-a'-fact.

Spent alot of time watching MTV (back when it was commercial-free and actually played nearly continuous videos!). Alternate was Nick and favorite shows there were You Can't Do That on Television & Mr. Wizard's World. I was also there for the debut of Nick at Nite (Nick used to sign off @ 8pm prior) and the first show I saw on there was Mr. Ed. Oh yeah, basic cable was 2 bucks a month when it made its debut in Boston in 1984! On regular TV, I couldn't get enough of Knight Rider & Airwolf! In fact, I'm waiting for the day when they release them in their entirety on DVD.

    Betamax! Need I say more?

Running up my dad's phone bill calling those "1-550" numbers when they were announced. He wasn't too happy about that.

Could go on, being a child of the 80's, but that's good enough!

Are you sure??? I recall the Electric Company ending in "0...2...1..3..4" - they would sing their address and 02134 was their zip code...
Yep...I didn't care much for The Electric Company...but I loved ZOOM. I watched it everyday...my mom had even hand made me a striped shirt just like the ones they wore on the show.

    From their website...mailing address...ZOOM, Box 350, Boston, MA 02134.
    Correct! It was ZOOM....
and I confirmed it as I just checked the endings of a few of the Electric Co show I have in VCD...

Yeah, Zoom. Funny they reran all the episodes about 10 or 12 years ago because there was talk (at the time) about making a new Zoom. But I think it fell through.

And speaking of old TV, does anyone remember a show called, "Code Red?" Was about a band of firefighters and their department. We're talking early 80's here, about maybe '81 or so. Another show that I loved that just popped into my head, but I've never seen it run again since!

I think sabbath started early 70's, with the title cover "black sabbath" Ozzy wearing a dress. Very good metal band until Ozzy left on the Crazy Train. -garman

They started in 1967 or 68, but their top popularity dates to 70's

  11. I was just reading the thread about the "Acre of the moon for sale" and that reminded me of a short lived series...I believe from the 80's. I think it was called "Salvage 1" and dealt with commercial missions to the moon to salvage, among other things, the remains from the earlier Apollo missions. It starred Andy Griffith. Anyone remember that one? The pilot of the series was pretty good but the other episodes stunk.

    I loved Sledge Hammer.

The guy always threw the cat out the window.

And Sledgehammer would sleep with his gun. He would talk to his gun, and he would tell people to trust him; He knew what he was doing.

Now if you want some more flashbacks....check out Streethawk and Greatest American Hero.

    Hello,

That's not the show I was thinking of. Avery brooks had a 80's show that was kind of like a lethal weapon take no prisoner show if I remember correctly. Might have been early 90s.

not really....he had his first nose job done in the late '70s
and in the early '80s, attended award shows with Brooke Shields, Webster and Bubbles (all 3 at the same time) as his dates

I still remember thinking how odd that was even way back then.

Then Brooke Shields confessed she remained a virgin and was waiting until she got married to lose it (but Dean Cain got there first...so she wasn't pure on her wedding night).

Micheal himself confessed that he never went all the way with his female celebrity dates. He said Tatum O'Neal was all over him but he turned her down 'cause...he just wasn't ready yet.

  29. Anybody remember what the most coveted brand of parachute pants was? I wanted some so bad, but had to settle for some !@#$ off-brand my aunt got me. I never got any New Balance sneakers, either (had to settle for some Spot-Bilt coaching-style BS my dad bought me). I remeber the first day of third grade (mid-eighties for me) like it was yesterday: I wore red satin parachute-style pants, a sleeveless black muscle shirt, & a black leather belt decorated with metal studs. I wore the same outfit for Halloween that year, complete with green hair.
