this website sanyo crd bpdv2
model dd 0203
dd 0202
device manager shows two drives
Atapi crd-bpdv2
vobid instant drive cd
Both drives ares et as Cable Select ( instead of Master slave) on the one of the IDE channels
both do not have drivers and are 'standard cdrom device"
dvdgenie show that the "vobid instant drive cd 14"
is locked to region 2 with 5 user changes left.
Instant copy will burn the DVDs successfully with all default values set
the DVDs will play on the computer with winDVD
The dvds will not play on the KLH 8350 standalone player
EVEN though the same media (TDK DVD-R 2X) recorded on another computer/burner will play.
win98 sp2
Dell Dimension p3-500
How do I change the region code when the computer does not recognize the drive as a device with a region code?
What settings can I use with Instant Copy so that it will burn a disc that my standalone player can play?
Please don't tell me I need a new computer, I know that. Sucessfully burning discs will go a long way toward convicing The SO of that!
Thanks
kk

You could check out your standalone in the DVD Player list over <---there. User opinions on the KLH seem to be mixed; some say it'll play anything, others report various problems.
Have you upgraded your firmware yet? I had trouble with my writer (rebadged Sanyo) for the first couple weeks until firmware 2.19 became available. There have been several firmware versions released since that time, the current one being 2.50(DOS). I am using 2.30 and can send it to you if you'd like. (I had no problem flashing, several times, and you shouldn't be afraid to do so. Just make sure your comp is defragged, etc., close any other programs, and DO NOT interrupt the flash process.)
I see you've posted at cd freaks as well.It was suggested you check your ASPI layer- couldn't hurt. Google on ASPI and find aspichk.exe, it'll tell you if it's okay and what version. If you need to re-install, see if you can find version 4.60. BTW, firmware flashes are not limited in number, unless you somehow manage to kill your drive, of course! Kidding.
Pull! Bang! Darn!
