  1. OK folks,

Being an extreme nub I cannot figure out a problem. I have a MPEG file that is over my DVD size of 4.7GB. I need to shrink it to fit on one DVD.

I have used REjig, and yes it shrunk the file. Then I had REjig create multiple 1G files ready for DVD burning (the TS folder stuff). Well heck, my DVD burner program did not recognize the file type.

Soooo....I create ISO files from the Video_TS folder. All went well except the ISO file is not over 8 GB.

Any ideas of why my DVD burner program does not recognise the files? They play fine on my PowerDVD and Windows Media player.

Any ideas on how to shrink MPEG files to fit on a DVD. TMPGEnc doesn't work either.....

    Thanks in advance!!

  3. Either reencode the MPEG file at a lower bitrate or you can author the dvd using the original file then shrink it using DVD Shrink.

The program I used to create the ISO is called IMGtool.

    The Video_TS folder is 3.85GB.

    Thanks,

I get this problem once in awhile after converting to MPEG2 and then adding an audio file that makes the overall movie size too big. I use DVD2one to reduce the file size to correct size.
Also I have noticed that occasionally, the authoring program that I use, DVD Architect will say that the program is too large to fit onto a DVD but when I let it do its "thang", the movie ends up fitting perfectly just like I had calculated and without reencoding.

    Goodluck,

    This is so much fun!

All you have to do is open the mpeg in dvd shrink. Then under streams it will give you a couple options, choose ratio. Reduce the percent until it will fit on a 4.7 GB disk. Then run dvd shrink. Then your can burn its output VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS folders.
