    to view Mpegs
OS: windows XP (dell Inspiron 8600)
    Video: nvidia 4200

This only happened when i cleaned up my harddrive registry cleaner and defrag. I may have deleted something.

Can i reload only the video problem - Im trying to save reformat and reload the whole OS and all my other software. Im using a third party to videw .mpg files now. Or is there an alternative ??

Other software like Real Player also does not work (cant view large MPG) but i can use VLC media player to view them.

    Here is the error
    AppName: wmplayer.exe AppVer: 10.0.0.3646
    ModName: mcmpgdec.dll
    ModVer: 1.1.1.38 Offset: 0005ce8c

I also have the error report content if it helps

    ANY ASSISTANCE IS GREATLY APPRECIATED

    Hello,

You may have to reinstall the mpeg2 codec. Do you have powerdvd or windvd?? Try those and see if they work. Also, is it a mpeg 2 or 1 file?

    Hello,

You said it was an mpeg problem. The divx codec would have no effect on that. Try a dvd player program or maybe the professional version of zoom player to test it out.

If you want to view mpegs download mediaplayer classic. It has a built in mpeg2 codec.

If I could figure out how to get rid of WMP from my system, I'd uninstall it instantly. Of all lousy apps MS bundles with their OS (that's pretty OK nowadays!) WMP must be the worst.

    I agree
Its just that my other players wont work either (cant see mpeg2 that are larger than 15MB) DivX player, Real Player - not working

So it must be some driver or configuration thats holding me back

    Thanks in advance

Neither RealPlayer nor DivX Player are mpeg players. For mpeg I use Media Player Classic or PowerDVD.
