i have recently been trying to use my scanner which i have used before and had no problems with it but this time when i open the software that i usually use to scan with (microsoft picture it) i go to the scan section and click the scan button... nothing happens so i close down the app and press the scan button on the scanner itself... again nothing.

i have tried un/re-installing the scanner but no luck, however the scanner is detected in the 'my computer' section

when tring to use the cd-rom that came with the scanner i place it in the drive open up my computer and double click the disk and i get a message saying

    16bit windows subsystem

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows application. Choose 'Close' to terminate the app.

I am running on XP Home edition

I have also checked for new drivers and was told that none were avalible

Could some1 plaese advise me on what is wrong?

Have you recently installed or reinstalled any BitCom software.

If not, you might want to do a complete virus scan for backdoor trojans / worms. I cleaned a machine this morning that kept getting the same message. After cleaning 17 viruses of the machine and removing Bitcom, everything worked fine. Dialer programs in general are a problem.

    Just a thought.
