  1. I made from my avi file (size is 21.718.761.472)with Pinnacle Studio 8 five avi files (I set "same as project"). Than I made from this five files one file and the size is 21.718.450.176. Why is the difference between original and new file? I try with smaller file (cca. 600 mega) and original and new file were totaly the same size.

  3. I want to make a backup files from my original file (size 21 GB) and burn them on DVD-s. But when I try to make from five cca. 4.2 GB files new - one 21 GB big file, it was a little bit smaller than original one. If the first number was 25 (25:5=5) and I take later 5X5 and I get 24, I think something is wrong. But where???

If I understand correctly, the combined file of all 4 is slightly smaller (about 300Kb). This should not be surprising, as each AVI file has a "header" and "trailer" sort of thing which takes space. Once you conbine several AVI files, they get to have a single set of information header which "saves" some space.

Try to combine 4 copies of the same file with VirtualDUB using direct stream copy and you will get a file slightly smaller than 4x the original file.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.

  5. O.K. If i understand correctly, there is the same using VirtualDUB - the new file, made frome 4 files (which are made from original file) is smaller than original one. I understand that is smaller than 4 files (1+1+1+1) but I didn't know is also "normal" that is smaller than original one. But why I get different result by smaller file (600 Mb) - the original and the new one are the same size???
