It was awesome. The east half of MT is pretty boring. Would like to make it up to Glacier. -
Yellowstone and Beartooth are also nice. You need to make it to Glacier though. It really is breath taking. Last year a few of us hiked up to the top of a mountain......4 mile hike. At the top was an alpine lake which was just amazing......great weather and at the top were some big glaciers. The view was amazing.
You are right about eastern Montana though. Gets pretty flat and boring. I try not to drive anywhere through there......anything from Billings on east will put you to sleep :P
Visit Glacier sometime and you will not be disappointed.

Hatz,
Any idea on what ever happened with the construction project they were trying to get funding for for Going-to-The-Sun at Glacier National Park? I was in Great Falls for a funeral earlier this year and for obvious reasons did not make it up North. I am hoping to get there next summer and was wondering what I could expect. My last visit to Glacier was 3 years ago at the end of May when they still had about 18 miles of snow to clear out in the middle. The guard rails (for lack of a better term since there aren't any) were in pretty sad shape with much of the surface roadway deteriating. No, I'm from Iowa. I only work in outer space. -

But like I said, they have been making improvements and I believe they said in 2002 or so when they started, it would take 2 years. Hopefully it is done by now. Sorry I can't give you a more concrete answer but here are a few links that tell updates and news on Glacier.

Hello,
I'll say again Michigan is quite beautiful in many areas. For example these two pictures were taken at a lake not a mile from my house last fall:

I don't think anyone is bad-mouthing Michigan Yoda. We're just naming what we consider the most beautiful state

Hatz,
Thanks so much for the update on the Going-To-The-Sun. I will take a look at those web sites. I must say that it was a pleasure to be able to drive up and down 10th ave south instead of being detoured when I visited earlier this year. That project seemed to go on for a while. Anyway, I seem to be steering this off topic post further off topic so I will be quiet now!No, I'm from Iowa. I only work in outer space. -
I've visited quite a few U.S. states and they are nothing like in Canada.
The States are California, Nevada, Arizona, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, District of Columbia, Virginia, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Illinois, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont then into Canada.
The State of Washington at Seattle and I got there from Vancouver, Canada. The weather wasn’t very good there as a dull drizzling day.
I can remember being at Vancouver, Canada once on the wrong time of the year where it rained all the time.
Don’t go there during February to April as very wet and Seattle is like that too.
I re-visited Vancouver on another year during the summer as so much better.
On one long trip in the U.S. I re-visited New York City on three occasions.
The most beautiful places I can remember in order, Quebec City Canada, Victoria Canada, Washington D.C. and San Francisco.I am a computer and movie addict -

Yoda... It's just me but I would never post on a forum the location of your home. (See Cap's post regarding the stalking he received) IMHO

Not that I've been to that many (MA, RI, CT, VT, NH, ME, MN, WI, MI, IN, IL, and IA) but a few things have stood out: the north peninsula of Michigan, the ruggedness of Maine, the tranquility of Wisconsin and the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
I'll be going back to New England in November for about 10 days - it'll be too late for fall, but I hope there'll be some snow on the ground at least.Regards,

I've only been to Washington and California, so I guess I would say Hawaii, by default. I know there are a lot of beautiful places on the mainland, but I've never seen any of them in person.
