Yea, a house...own...but it's shared (not completely mine...though I wish) -
We've lived in several houses. My wife and I would buy a house, live in it, fix it up and then resell it. We've done that 5 times. Like for example, the house we live in now, we paid $30,000 for it
yea, you read that right. Some old lady, her husband died, house was in bad shape or seemed to be. I fixed the foundation, some insulation, vinyl siding, new roof, and a lot of interior work, septic tank, etc and right now I'm building a 40x30 garage. The house sits in the country and sits on 2.5 acres. It appraised at $91,000 the last time we had it appraised. We've been in this house for a while (because this is where our children's formidable years were and my wife is sentimental)...but it's pretty difficult to beat a $300 a month house payment....sure I would love to live in a nice new house...but I sure as hell don't want the $1200 a month house payment that goes with it. But that goes back to my whole time is more valuable than money philosophy...I refuse to chase the almighty dollar.
This house is so old that it has oak 2x4 walls, which incase any of you haven't ever tried to drive a nail into them is like trying to drive a nail solid steel -
I did live in my car, a panel van on a trip away from home. Actually a kind of a bed in the van to sleep
This is the cheapest way to travel around Australia, usually along the coast near beaches.
I stay at a park, they would provide power if desired and the place got showers and toilets available.
The fee overnight as very cheap for vehicle and mobile home space and power.I am a computer and movie addict -

Those who say they "own" their home... How do you do it? Did a rich relative die & leave you inheritance or something? Did you win the lottery? Millionaire parents?
I think most people are renting, or else paying off a mortgage with their partner, which is like renting anyway...(ie rest of your forseeable life)...
Strange how BANKS control your life, whether you like it or not...Oy vay!
I think, one day, I will be living in a cave....and not paying anything, to no one. Damn straight. -
