I have a few hotmail accounts. But one is inaccessable now! I am wondering WHY???
This one is the most important.
I am using Mozilla Firefox for the last few months.
I am just worried about hackers - why can I sign into other hotmail accounts but not my main one? Does anyone have a clue about this???
Thanks...
(PS I can sign into MSN Chat & MSN News etc etc, but just not hotmail...)

if you dont sign in for awhile - you lose the account

Yes thank you but this is a regular account. For the last 48-72 hours it freezes on me. Like I said, I can log in to MSN Chat etc, just not Hotmail.
I'm worried someone has hacked my hotmail account. Is this possible? I use AVG anti-virus and Zone-Alarm firewall protection.
I can access my other hotmail accounts (including this one that is my Videohelp.Com account) but I can't access my main one.
Just wondering...???
(PS I use Mozilla Firefox) -
Lately my hotmail account has shown the error screen on the first attempt to get to my inbox. I have to go back and click it again. Then it's OK.

No luck. It's been 96 hours now!
Awaiting hotmail reply.
I'm paranoid of Big Brother infiltration.
Maybe the anti-terrorist squad is clogging up my bandwidths... I wouldn't blame them... -
What error message are you getting when you try to log in?
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore. -
"ALERT! The operation timed out when attempting to contact by 23fd.bay23.hotmail.msn.com"
Like I said, I can access other hotmail accounts. I can also use the above account to sign in to MSN Chat etc. Just not hotmail.
I'm a bit desperate here, as this hotmail account is my main lifeline to overseas trades etc...
Any suggestions for a panicking cyber-retard??? -
Sounds like it's just a server issue. If someone had hacked your account / changed your password you'd know it because it would tell you your password is invalid. Just have to wait and keep trying. Also, you may want to clear your Internet Explorer cache and cookies just to see if that helps.

Yeah thanks a lot for the reassurance! I was panicking a bit. So different hotmail accounts go through different servers? (Yes, I cleared my cache/cookies etc).
I was panicking because I can sign in to other hotmail accounts, and I can sign in to this problematic account (in MSN Chat & MSN News etc)...but just not in to hotmail.
I'll just wait some more I guess. 3 days has been the longest I've had to wait with hotmail, tho'. -
There are probably tens of millions (if not more) of hotmail accounts. I couldn't even guess at how many servers they're running. 3 days IS a long time though. Have you tried it from another location? All the services are linked through your Hotmail login, so if you can get to MSN Chat / News etc then your account is working and hasn't been compromised.

OK, so the problem is probably with my Mozilla Firefox, yes? (I can't see how, tho'...)
-
No, it's probably the server that contains the actual hotmail account. Although, it might not hurt to try getting in through IE, or adding the account to Outlook Express and seeing if it can retrieve your mail. But I'd guess the problem is most likely on their end, not yours.

Thanks a lot ViRal1 for your help!!! I'll try your suggestions, and I'll throw a post up here when I get this shit sorted...hopefully soon!

have you tried from another machine ...
have you tried turning your firewall off just for a test ...
checked your hosts file ?"Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -

checked your hosts file ?
It seems that my password & everything is accepted, and it tries to log in to my hotmail page & everything, but then it freezes with a white screen & that Alert dialog pops up...
I'll try another machine.
I'll report back, too, because this has gone on long enough... -
I get a error msg when I log into my hotmail acct. from work. I log in my password & it tells me wrong password. So I try a few more times then I say forget it. I connect faster on my cell phone to check my hotmail acct.

Not yet. What if I can log in with another machine? What does that mean with regards my machine?

NamPla,
Try this site:

seems almost identical (cept for the site the person is trying to access). Maybe info here would be helpful?

I have a problem that may be related. My email is with TDS. I wanted to send an email to a friend who has msn. So I sent him a bunch of emails, over 10, some with attachments and some not. He never got any of them, but he can send to me just fine. Its not the browser, there just must be some bad connection. If you want to try an alternate browser that is safe like firefox, you could try Avant Browser:

UPDATE: Well after 6 days I can suddenly access my hotmail account!
I'm glad it wasn't a Firefox problem.
Tho' I'm still scratching my head wondering what the hell went wrong???
Cheers for all your input.
