    Hi,

Ive decided to capture directly to mpeg2 since it takes ages to go the huffy way and have been trying out some mpeg2 capturing software which are windvd creator 2, ulead video studio 8 and both those do not show if i have dropped any frames when i captured so would like to know of a good mpeg2 capturing software that tells you if you have dropped frames or not.

    Thanks

I use MainActor 5.2.9 to capture to mpeg-2.
It's the only software I've tried with no dropped frames during a 4 hour recording. And it shows dropped frames.
I use the presets for DVD.
WinTV PCI with Bt878 and latest WDM-driver from Hauppage.
P4 1,7 Ghz, 512 MB ram, 120 GB harddrive 7200 rpm with OS on same drive.
The program is very expensive but it's the only one that works for me.

  5. I use ulead video studio 6 and it does show dropped frames. Never tried 7 or 8, but i read on a forum very recently (either here or on doom 9) that that is a trick to make the dropped frames show in ver 7~8. I don't remember what the trick was but try browsing the forums or doing a search. Post the link if you find it for anyone else wondering about this. If you can't find it maybe I'll give another look
