  1. This is odd. Can you help.

I have an avi file that plays fine on the PC so I thought I'd make a DVD for my wife to watch - she doesn't do PC's

I've split the video and audio source from an avi file saving the .avi and the .wav files separately..

When I try and open the video only avi in TMPGEnc Plus, the program crashes. It fails to load the avi file and the program ends.

But if I were to use the original avi - which has video and sound i e. before splitting - then TMPGEnc loads it satisfactorily.

What could be wrong with the avi file once split from the audio? I have played it and although there is no sound the video is fine.

So, has anyone come across this before?

One other thing which might be relevant, after the unsuccessful loading of the program, explorer keeps crashing and I end up re-booting the PC.

    Thanks for your help

PS I have used this process succesfully on other avi's before.

Try loading original (un-demuxed) avi for video source and de-muxed wav file for audio source.
