I'm sorry if this isn't the correct forum, but it seems to be the most applicable...

I got my hands on a used Canon ES190 camcorder (8mm) and I want to start learning more about video editting. However, the camcorder didn't come with an A/V cable (tv-out) cable so I can't capture the video from the camcorder onto my PC.

I've searched everywhere on the web and I can't find a single place that sells this cable...

Could I use another, perhaps "universal" cable? Would any retail stores sell such a cable?

Thanks in advance for any help...

Cables are standard on every cam. If you have a yellow, red and whit jack on the cam they can be purchased anywhere. Better ones can be found at electronics stores but they can also be purchased at any discount store.

You may only have a yellow and red or yellow and black. In that case you only need a double cable. Here's how the jacks should look on your cam.

And here's a image of the type of cable. This particular one is for audio because of the color coding. It's the same as the one for video. A video one will have yellow to desigante the video cable, the red and whit would be for audio.

Generally it's reffered to as a AV cable.

    Thanks for the reply...

I'm familar with regular RCA cables, but this camcorder has only one single jack about the size of a headphone plug (1.5mm?). I'm really hoping this isn't a specialty cable that I will need to order from Canon for lots of money...

    Hello there,

I have something similar on my panasonic camera. I believe it is almost a universal part now. Try this link from radio shack:
    http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&product%5Fid=16-3686

The one listed looks similar to the one that came from panasonic with mine.

That is the one and is used by Canon, Sony Pana on small size cams. Most audio-video stores will have one.

  6. I have the camcorder and I checked the box to see whether it had any cables and there were none. I bought it years ago and never learned all that I needed to use it. I was wondering how much did you purchase yours for?
