  1. Hi people,

I need some help. I'm trying to figure out how to write my own code using C#.net to rip a dvd into harddisk. Is there any place I can find any such code to refer to? Anyone knows where can I find the methodology or technology behind ripping?
I'm landed with this project and I'm not competent at it at all so I'll need the DVD community's help... I know there are softwares written already to rip dvd to harddisk but i'm asked to write my own and later integrate it with other parts of the project... Can anyone help? really appreciate any of your replies...

There's a older version of the vstrip source code on this site. It's free.
Look at the top right hand corner for the download.

There are probably other versions floating around. That's probably your best bet as a starting point.

edited: Just noticed we have a link here too but it points to the same place.

    I just remembered
Also check The doom9 download page. There is a link at the top of the page to some free source code for many programs.
The 2 DECSS source codes might interest you but especially the program source for DVDX. This is a complete application including the ripper and conversion to avi and mpeg. I believe it's in C++ so you will have to extract what you need from it.
    Have fun.

P.S. Your thread in in the wrong forum.

why not just pay someone who already did this to lic thier code/app ... be a lot lot easier and you wouldnt have to go through 2 things ...

    1. legal issues of DECSS crack .... could be a major issue depending where you live .

    2. de-bugging that part of the project for a year or two ..

In case you have commercial intent, another thing to consider if you use any of this source code. Even though it is readily available online, it is still under gnu license. Any software you develop using any of this code must also be released freely under the same terms. That means not just the binaries but the source code as well.

It's also imbedded in the vstrip and dvdx source code.

  11. Also, am i right to say that i can rip subtitle from VOB file using OCR method? Is there any website that shows you how is that done? For example, are there source code for OCR in C#? Subrip is written in Delphi which i dunno the language.
Are there any other methods besides OCR?

I've tried Subrip, and it uses OCR. However, it cannot recognize this musical note on the subtitle

    right?

    Please help!

  12. That's a BIG-lot of coding. First, u must authorize the drive, then identify, parse and separate transport and program layer packets, then make streams and substreams from all that and finally decrypt them.
I'm not so deep in to it but consider a decryption on packets layer too.
You can find some source codes on doom9 or just use google.)
    Well good luck!
