I want to be able to rip CD audio disc images to my hard disc in the shortest time frame possible.
What does this mostly depend on?
1. the read speed of my cdrw (52x is the highest I have heard of)
2. the cpu speed of my PC (sadly I am stuck with an AMD 1.5 ghz machine)
3. the ram in my PC (have 786 mb)
thx.

If you are ripping complete images/isos, I would recommend Blindwrite software it's the fastest I've used.
If you wish to rip individual tracks to wav/mp3 the fastest I've used is

The specs you list should easily be adequate to rip at highest speed.
One thing to remember though, cdrw's have different audio extraction speeds that will alter rip speed when ripping tracks as opposed to iso/images which should be fast with any 52x.
