VIDEO_TS -> AC3

I think this was mentioned before, but not really answered...

1st Problem:
When I try to extract the AC3 audio stream from a VIDEO_TS folder, then I get this error message: VIDEO_TS: Unknown format

This is somewhat weird, cause beforehand ffmpegX could successfully create an AVI with AC3 sound from that VIDEO_TS folder. 8)

2nd Problem:
I managed to extract the AC3 stream with another tool and now I want to mux it with my above mentioned AVI. ffmpegX starts doing so but never finishes the task. (I know this can take time, but not several hours on a dual G5 :P )

1/ ffmpeg engine does not handle VIDEO_TS format as input.

2/ Are you using Mux as.. AVI (1 audio track), or Mux as.. AVI+audio (2 audio tracks)?

1. let me guess: ffmpeg doesn't, but mencoder does?

but mecoder doesn't support that passthrough option...

so theres no way to extact the AC3 sound with ffmpegX then?


2. as AVI +audio.
as mentioned, the avi has already one audiotrack and i want to add another.

Yes, but the source has to be VOB instead of VIDEO_TS.

AVI+audio need a lot of time to complete. Possibly you should wait some more.

Yes, you're right. It took around 4:40 to finish. Unfortunately the sound was not in sync.
Perhaps the AC3 was not correctly extracted by yadeX...
