Which program can I use to just take out extras and menus, but won't compress the movie? I've tried to search this but I couldn't phrase right, and got 12,000 or so related topics all the ones ichecked (about 100) took out extras but also compressed. I don't want to compress?

    IFOEdit
DVDShrink (compression set to No Compression)
    If in doubt, Google it.

  3. DVDshrink, Love that program for LOTs of stuff!

Any chance though of a great program like that where you can select what to keep and what to delete and still keep menu's? Even if it don't shrink, afte backup we could use DVDsrink on those files if needed then.

Sort of like the check boxes for langauge and subs. You can choose what to keep and what to lose, would be nice to be able to uncheck the comercails and other stuff but still have menu's and extras!
Dvdshrink is good at showing what each thing is in a preview so you know if you want it, but no way to uncheck it and lose the trash is there? So only other option seems to be Movie only.

What's the best guide for IFoedit for this? Looked at the program haven't used it yet.

You might want to take a look at TitleSetBlanker and VOBBlanker. I know that VOBBlanker can replace one or more extra features with a short blank clip, while retaining all the menus and other features you may want to keep.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  5. Thanks, might be about what I was hoping for, will look at it.

I actually been trying to find a way to replace a Vob with one of my own also, sort of like that, just make about 12 super shorts a few megs large and replace the un-wanted 60-266 meg vobs for comercails. Just adjusting the names to match. No luck yet, they do play but then the dvd messes up after. Never burned one yet, just tested files on Pc.

DVDShrink has the ability to replace a title (commercial, extra...) with a still image, so you can keep the original structure, but allocate as much space as possible fro the main title.

  7. VOBBlanker ??
I tried that program, looks interesting once I figure it out. I did one test backup I played with several times. Have to learn it better though.
I did get rid of the long comercails but I never got rid of the FBI and such or the setup stuff for tunning the surround sound speakers!
I also had several black stills flashing at me a few times where the avoided content used to be. I did get good results consdering it was the first try!!

I general, I did get to the main menu and then actual movie in like only 3 seconds instead of the 20minutes of comercails that disk had
Everything seemed to work fine, I left all movie extra's, I just wanted to dump the stuff that had nothing to do with the movie, like Lion King Comercails!!!

Also I will have to look at the change to stills option in DVDshrink again too. Using the 2 programs together may work well. I actually want to remove, not change them, but in some cases I want to add my own stills.
Converting to a still, then swapping that with one of my own may work well!

This DVD actually advertised TV shows on it!!! I don't pay $20 so I can be forced to watch advertisements for TV which I do not even watch!!! I have not had a working system to watch TV for about 8 years now!!! Thought about getting a dish system of some type a few times, but always change my mind and don't.

The time/reason to compress is when the blank does not have enough room to hold the entire movie.

So if you have a movie (just the movie) which exceeds the size of the blank, you still need to compress. Unless you wish to cut it and put on to multiple blanks.
It's time to kick some butts, and presto ( if you know what I mean )

Either titlesetblanker or vobblanker will do it. However, Vobblanker currently does not process menu VOB, so if your FBI warning was in a menu VOB (or in the VGM), then vobblanker won't do it.
Titlesetblanker will do it in all cases (make sure you check the appropriate place, depending on where the warnings are).
One of the things that vobblanker does that titlesetblanker does not is blank individual PGC, or even individual cells. That's necessary when the unwanted stuff lies in the same titleset as your movie (or stuff you want to keep) or a required menu...
