ok Lately ive been getting blockiness and even FREEZEING on all my DVDrs I burn near the very end of the disk. now I dont know whats causing this problem? Im using the same ritek g4s and i burned nearly 200 successful DVDs. The DVDs in question DO NOT have labels or even anything written on them with a marker.. thier totaly blank.

The only possible thing That I think could be the problem is I updated my firmware to DR4GSB9 (from B6 I think) a couple months ago. Now this could be the problem maybe seeing as i never had problems on the old hardware.

does any1 have any idea as to what my problem is and also is it possible for me to downgrade the firmware on my drive? it says not to on The lite-on site but ill do it if i can.

BTW i tried the discs on 4 DVD players and they all have the blockyness/freezing (some worse then others) so I know its not the player.

I had a slug of G04s that were giving me read errors even around the 2 GB area. Get Nero's CDSpeed.exe, click Extra, Scandisk, and Surface Scan. You may be getting read errors. I checked some of the ones I burned earlier and they were fine .... so it was a series in the middle of the same batch. I've since switch to TY +R and the first burn was right to the 4.3 GB limit ... no errors. But it's too soon to see if the whole batch turns out as good. I'm thinking +Rs may be more reliable anyway, from what I've been reading.
