I'll be watching in order "Star Wars", then "Empire Strikes" and "Return of the Jedi".

After this, give the original VHS tapes to a friend.

I'll check out the bonus disc later.

I got mine today! I pre-ordered them 3 months ago from Deepdiscountdvd.com and used a coupon for a whopping total of $33.50!

I chose option 1. I am not a SW elitist and don't mind Lucas "improved" a few scenes. I have been waiting a long time for this day...as I'm sure most of you have been.

To be honest, I am pretty fine with the VHS versions of the special edition set I have. And since they havent been played much the tapes are still in good shape. I will eventually transfer them to DVD, I like the satisfaction of doing my own versions of the DVD's.....I get tired of spending money each time something new comes out.

Yes, but the studios want you to. Why do you think they keep milking things for all they're worth? For art's sake? BWAAAHAHAHA!

I love all the arguments about how "this new, unreleased set contains never-before scenes". Shell out another $60 and you can own them.

Of course they're "never before seen scenes". They were living on the editing room floor the first go-around because they didn't make the cut. Someone got the bright idea of sweeping the floor and selling the scraps ...in a "new release - director's cut". Gimme a break :P

Now people are wetting themselves at the possibility of getting these "new" boxed sets.

I think I'd rather have Flaystus' LD transfers myself

I'm compelled to stick up for the directors cut here, go watch Aliens, then the directors cut of Aliens, it kicks sweet ass.

    Hello,

I wish I could but I can't. I was going to take the day off but thought better of it. I can wait till about 5pm when I get off the freeway tomorow and head to BestBuy (hopefully traffic won't push that time back!).

    Kevin

P.S. You better believe I will start a new thread when I get mine .

Sure! Waste $4 per disc renting it and then buy it after the release week sales are gone so you can pay double.

I do not have the money to buy it now or I would. That is why I said I would rent it first.

  18. Im going to become a Ninja and use the DVD's as Ninja Stars and chuck them at George lucas head. Read there are audio problems with Star Wars A NEW HOPE. They said the reason tehre are sound problems is that the movie was made in 1977. Then why do my Laser Disc do not have that problem you could have use my Laser Disc set George Lucas. OH ha I for got George Lucas does not want any one to have a perfect copy.

    Hello,

4 HOURS Till I'm off work. And hopefully only a half hour of traffic tonight. I should get my widescreens between 5:05pm est and 5:45pm (worst case scenario if Best Buy is sold out of widescreen).

Might get it on the weekend if I have time.

  23. Hey, Fry's had an ad in Friday's paper for a $36.99 price today only. Since Best Buy matches, I took the ad in there and got my copy for that price. Fry's would have been a 20 min drive. CompUSA has it for $39.99.

I have a feeling that this thing is gonna break all kinds of sales records. They had a massive display in Best Buy and surprisingly few copies left. They told me that people were lined up outside the store at 10:00 am to get it. I am sure there was also a line last night at midnight.

Mine came in the mail yesterday, but I was too busy unpacking from the trip to CA over the weekend I didn't get a chance to watch them. My wife got the mail yesterday and I saw her trying to open the package. She understood why I started ripping the couch apart and throwing fecal matter at her. She knows I don't like people touching my collector items, and that I have to have my childhood excitement of being the first person to open and smell the new items. This is what happened to the neighbor's kid that touched my Back to the Future Trilogy set.

There's no purpose for panamorph Full Screen. They should just stop making it. "I don't like the bars at the top of the screen." well apparently you don't like seeing all the missed footage and action of a movie. They don't ADD the bars just so it can be viewed Wide Screen. THat would be even more stupid.
