Ritek GO3 -R, anyone burning 4x?

Can't find my GO4 disks right now, they weren't printable and I haven't been using them for awhile. But I know I have some!

I was burning printables at 4x for awhile, then my NEC2500 dropped back to 2x burns. Then made 3 coasters in a row, however the Toshiba 2X drive I have was burning disks from same spindle just fine, so it was not disk related I am sure.

In trying to get the NEC burning again I have moved it from system to system and it burned great at 2X! DVDINFO speed test though is only getting up to about 4-5X reads. It's now back in the original system, same results. Running in PIO mode only device on that Ide Cable.

After running DVDinfo on the disks, my printables show as GO3. I forget what they were supposed to be, or if I even cared when I bought these spindles, but I was thinking 4X and GO4.
I am sure they were burning at 4X before. I also upgraded to Herries 1.07 firmware while trying to get the bugs out. Dropback to 2X was before upgrading firmware though.

Anyone burning GO3 at 4X? That is a 2x rated disk is it not? I checked both spindles I have here and some I have burned already and all report GO3. So was I just lucky to begin with and my drive burned at 4X on a 2X disk for awhile and is Now working correctly burning it at 2X, or have I still got a drive problem? Since the only coasters in these 2 spindles were on this drive and all in a row (on drive, not spindle) and the spindles worked fine on the Toshiba 2X at that time I have ruled out a bad disks.

If I am burning the correct speed at 2X for the disks with the NEC 2500 A then I am satisfied untill I find my known GO4 disks and see what they burn at. I can always order some 8X for the NEC and burn the 2X on the Toshiba.

Watch out for the grimlins! I just had a wave of problems roll through 4 PCs within about 1 1/2 weeks. All different problems, all at once, and 3 had no changes made and are not connected to the net at all! Was really wierd the way it happened!
