Sorry if this is the wrong forum to ask such thing, but, i was wondering, i have a dvd recorder lg 4081 b, and a combo 4041b LG, and, a friend of mine gave me an old 40 gb hd... can i put my combo, as a slave, connected in my dvd recorder, as a master? That can damage my dvd recorder, or cause "bad writes"(don't know the name) onto the dvd recording(produce bad, or failures on the recording, somehow?)
Right now, my connections are like this:
Main 80 gb hd maxtor as master, ide coming from the primary mobo conector, and combo connected onto him, as slave.
dvd recorder, ide coming from the secondary mobo conector, dvd recorder as master. Oh, yeah, i almos forgot, i have no more extra/free power/energy connectors, coming my power suply... can i use on of those "one to two" conectors. to provide me an extra power conector, so i can provide energy to this new extra hd?
Sorry my bad english.
Thank you so much!

I've used power splitters on my other systems with no problems. I had an extra controller card and 4 hd plus a cd writer and a DVD rom. Just keep the power supply clean and well ventilated. It's surprising that there are not at least 4 connectors plus one smalller for the 3 1/2 disc. Are you sure? Check again in case it's tucked under where its hard to see.
You could also consider replacing the power supply. It's fairly easy to do.
There should be no problems adding a hd to the same ide connector as a cd/dvd writer. The only caution is mixing hd on the same controller you could slow down your faster drive so I wouldn't put the 80 and 40 on the same connector ( Asumming the 80 is a 100 or 133 ata and the 40 is 33 or 66 ata. There should be no problem in mixing cd/dvd/rom/writers with hd. -

Actually mixing the HD and dvdrw on the same connector will slow down transfers to the slowest speed. So both hard drives on one connector and both dvd drives on the other connector. or buy a cheap PC ide card and have both HD on seperate IDE channels, for faster xfr.
Corned beef is now made to a higher standard than at any time in history.
The electronic components of the power part adopted a lot of Rubycons. -
