I have an ATI AIW 9600TX. The software package provided is ok for watching and capturing TV, but is there any other Software that you can use with the the ATI AIW to capture from s-video or composit sources?

you capture svideo and composite with the same tool/program you capture tv with. Click the check mark (settings) box and look for a video tab (if I remember correctly). A drop down box will allow you to choose tv tuner, composite or svideo as the video source.
good luck. -
You can also change sources with a button that is on the main control panel. Looks like a connector, changes from tuner to S-video To composite, which are connected via the dongle

Perhaps I didn't phrase my question correctly...
I know you can use to ATI MMC software to capture from TV, s-video, and composite. But i find it very unstable. Right now I'm running MMC 8.8; I've tried upgrading to 9.1 but its even more unstable
What I'm wondering is if there is any OTHER software out there that can capture from the ATI inputs. The distance between genius and insanity is measured only by success... -
Just about anything that can capture from the ATI card.
VirtualDub
Ulead VideoStudio
See the TOOLS section.

8.7 is most stable.
9.0 is very stable too. I'm on it myself.
9.1 and 9.0 are not too far apart supposedly.
Using anything other than ATI MMC for an ATI AIW card will almost always results in subpar quality results.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

Lordsmurf, I hope that capturing with other software isn't too bad.
I have an old card (not even sure which card this is) but every time I tried to install anything above MMC 7.1, it locked out my computer.
I had to Fdisk it and now it wont even let me boot from either a win2k nor xp disk.
None the less, I'll figure that problem out. But I would like to stil use this card and not have to buy a new one. This one says ATI Rage 128.
So would using POwerVCR II really yeild that much lower quality that the MMC software? If so, what is the reason?
Thanks in advance. -
With an old 128 non-PRO card, forget what I said. ATI MMC is not a good option for you.

Any suggestions on software to use??
I spent all last night trying to load newer versions MMC on my XP/SP2 system last night and none will even show up as loaded on my computer.
I did capture a 30 second snippit with 7.1, but when compared to a snippit captured in Cyberlinks PowerVCR II Deluxe, I liked the MMC one better.
Maybe I didn't have the settings optimized on PowerVCR, but even looking at the TV signal using each ones tuner, the MMC software looked better.
Oh, the reason I don't want to use the 7.1 version of MMC is that it wont capture audio above 22mhz (I believe).
