I sense the same kind of backlash that baseball went through.

    The nhl may die off.

    Hello,

    No....

Besides, Baseball finally recovered in the last few years. It will take time.

At the very least there will be sacrifices. I'm sure AT LEAST 5 teams will fold. It's a certainty.

But at least with fewer teams the talent pool will be better meaning better action.

Take a look at the bottom of the East division....

    http://www.theahl.com/AHLStatistics0405/standings.html

2-4-1 to start the season is not hitting the panic button yet.... we did win 2 out of 3 this last weekend. They boys seem to be just starting to gel and were humming like a finely tuned motor on Sunday night.

The players are psyched after this succesful weekend and hopefully that carries over to this weekend's games as well....

On paper - our team is amongst the best in the league - now it's up to the boys on the ice to make it so! (little bit of Jean-Luc in there! )

Either way, they play a good game and it's better than watching ice melt in the nhl arenas. (Nike commercial)

    GO BEARS GO!!!! :P

All you guys have to do is agree to pay $150 per game and everything will be fine.

    Hello,

Well the players union met yesterday. Everything's all hunkydory over there. They don't want a salary cap and they say the seasons in jeopardy

    GET TALKING!

Make a deal and play HOCKEY!

  9. Hi !
This seems like as good as place as any to open my yap....

I'm in a business that allows me some access to both players and some members of the front office of our pro hockey team. While not a main topic of conversation, the lockout has come up from time to time. For the most part, ( at least from my perspective) both sides seem to be optimistic that things will be resolved enough to salvage the remainder of the season.

While I'm not taking that to the bank, I'm not giving up hope yet!

Besides, Rugby is practically nonexistent here so without Hockey I'm bumming.

I read the other day that the season is going to be canned because they save more money by not playing.

It was in the dallas morning news newspaper.

Yeah Bazooka, they mentioned that back in the summer (the owners), they lose less money by not playing then if they continued to play under the CBA that was in force at the time.

Guys here in the Toronto area of Canada are not bitching too much about it right now - they have juniors to watch, as well as a quick drive to Hamilton to see the Bulldogs of the AHL.

I know how you feel, yoda, I miss being able to turn on Comcast and watching the Flyers. (back home, not here in Canada - obviously)

Listened to my Bears drop yet another close game last night on the streaming audio feed on my laptop from back home.... hotel has free broadband for all guests!! 2-1 loss to Norfolk Admirals (Chicago Blackhawks affiliate).... It's turning into what appears to be a long season with an early tee time in April...

It is ultimately the owners fault for screwing up the nhl so badly.

It's more complex than that, zook.

They are ALL at fault - and I include the owners, players, players association, players agents, Bettmen, and Goodenow....

I've said it before and I'll say it again - the blame goes all around. They will not play this season.... no one is moving on either side to resolve this. The owners WANT to field scab teams next fall made up from the AHL and International rosters.... This whole ordeal may be a ploy from the owners to actually try and break the players union completely.

That's the only way they will get prices under control for contracts. Caps do little to control that, there are ALWAYS ways to move the $$ around to get under a cap.

It's starting to suck for any AHL fans, unless you root for Philadelphia or Manchester - those two teams lineups are loaded with NHL players who were elegible to play this year in the AHL without clearing waivers - so their teams are just pounding the sh** out of everyone else at this point.

Philly just won a league record 17th straight win tonight in Hershey. Manchester has won their 10th in a row tonight as well.... Both of those teams are rolling along.

Makes for a long season for the rest of us.
