  1. Greetings,
Thank you in advance for any help for probably a dumb!@# question.
I have a ATI AIW 9600 and a Canon Hi8 camcorder and I am trying to capture video using Roxio 7. The camcorder has a yellow composite port and a black audio port. I have the composite cable plugged into the AIW 9600 through the interface cable that has yellow, black, red and a S video port.
The question I have is I can capture video through the composite cable but there is no audio. Does composite get both audio and video or do I need another cable? If so, what kind of cable can I get to go from a one port black RCA input to a white and red RCA audio in?
I hope this is clear enough... sorry for being obtuse... first timer as you can tell

Plug into the red I think if that doesn't work try white, I'm pretty sure the red is the mono jack. Capture your audio in mono, Roxio will convert it to the correct specs when you go to burn.

  3. Yes you need another cable, from black camera audio to red and/or white on ATI. You can use a Y cable to get stereo, if your camera output is stereo, or just split the mono to two channels. Or you could just cap one mono channel.

Why are you using Roxio to capture instead of MMC which came with the card? MMC will give you MUCH better quality captures.

As for why I am using Roxio... I guess that was the first thing I had available... Sorry to be a dumb!@#$ but what is MMC? I downloaded the updated drivers for the AIW 9600 from ATI and I did not load anything else figuring it was bloatware....I will keep an eye out for it.... thanks for all of the help

  7. ATi stuff usually is very tricky to setup; but the manual should state how to wire up the audio.

Also, try the capture section on left column of this board.

  9. Thats an understatement!

Older card I am trying to install really messed up my computer. Lets just say the only way I can access it at this time is through Fdisk. Wont even let me load an OS on my HD anymore.
