  1. I have a NTSC (29.97 fps) mpeg I burned to VCD with NTIC burning software. The file plays great on my PC with Windows Media Player, but on the VCD I burn, it starts playing ( on my DVD/VCD player) and then freezes after a short period of time. Every once in a while, it has difficulty just reading the file. Any suggestions?

  2. It depends on your DVD player, the speed you use to burn VCD and also the media you use to burn.

I have a all-region DVD player that plays CD-R and CD-RW well and I seldom have such problem unless I burn my CD-R at high speed. The same applies to CD-RW.

However, things will be very different for VCD/DVD players that are not meant to read CD-R or CD-RW although the spec it can play VCD(it means pressed VCD and not the burned type).

If I play those VCDs I burnt on some VCD/DVD players that are not designed to be sensitive enough to pick up reflected signals from the CD-R/CD-RW dye surface, I encounter the scenario you just mentioned.

Anyway, using higher quality CD-R might improve the situation a bit such those gold CD-R from Kodak.

    Hope this helps.
