Hi,
I downloaded demos of Adobe Premiere and Adobe encore, and everytime start either one of them, my computer restarts. When I reboot, I get the Windows Xp error message "A serious error has occured."
Any Help is appreciated. My computer/video card has more than enough power for this program. The video card is a Radeon 9200SE
Thanks for any Help

1) Do not cross post. One topic is enough. If you are not sure which forum to post in, pick one. If it is wrong, a mod will move it.
2) Do not bump your topic for AT LEAST 24hours, preferable longer

How much memory does your system have? Both of those programs are major memory hogs. I'm actually going to upgrade to 2 Gigs of memory just to keep these programs stable.
I would also do some memory tests on your system to make sure none of your sticks of memory are hosed.Use your head, Side Step the Traps, Snake through the chaos with a SmoothNoodleMaps -
I presume you are using Premiere Pro. Try uninstall Encore and see if the problem still exist. If problem still exist, try install it on safe mode.

My computer has 1 gig of ram. I assume one of these programs would atleast run. I tried the safemode thing and the bizaar message "No soundcard is installed, Encore cannot run" Came up
I use my motherboards sound right now, so I'll try picking up a card and installing it. I'll let you know how that goes.
Please keep any suggestions you can coming
Thanks a lot -
There must be some driver conflict. This is why I advice you install one software at a time. Preferably, install Premiere first. In that case, you can narrow down culprit.

Ouch. The soundcard thing didn't work either. I even formatted my computer today! Still, there's been no improvement.
My complete computer stats are:
AMD athalon 64 3000+ (running at 2ghz)
Asus K8V motherboard
1 Gig of Ram
160 gig hard drive
128 Meg ATI Radeon 9200SE
Sound blaster Live 5.1
Thats about it.
Thanks again for any help -
1. Now that you have a Soundblaster Live 5.1 card, go to the BIOS and disable the on-board sound. Install the Soundblaster drivers.
2. If you use Xp, make sure that you have at least SP1 install.
3. Enable DMA mode in the IDE controller.
4. Install Premiere ... keep your finger cross. -
Well, I installed a new soundcard, and nothing happened. Same problem. However, I installed the newest drivers available for my video card and it worked.
Thanks for all the help
