Hi!
I have only now started to backup movies onto two DVDRs. With current DVD-Rs reaching max speed and dual layer coming down in price, I don't think is worth compressing anymore. Hopefully media in the future should be able to hold a few DVDs and be backward compatible with MPEG2 and also current DVD players.
In order to 'combine' the DVD-Rs, should the DVD-Rs have been splitted in any special way or using any specific tool. Has anyone experimented by combining 2 DVD-Rs on one dual layer media? For information, I am currently using an old freeware version of DVDFAB to split my movies.
Thanks!

DVDShrinks reauthor mode would be the simplest way to add two movie onlys together
. You can then use Titleset writer to create and insert a menu to switch between the two
it's possible to join 2 original movies keeping the original DVD menu's and workings but the tool required is not free
if you have previously split movies then it's probably simpler just ripping them again (you do have the originals), burning it onto a dual layer DVD rather than messing around trying to rejoin them

Hi!
Thanks for the reply.
Which tool are you mentioning that is not free? please provide the name or link so that I can have a look at it's features and price. When dual layer media was initially launched I did come across some 'joining' guides but can't find them now.
How do you join 2 movie-only's using DVDshrink? Do you open 2 sessions and drag across? Some basic steps please.
Thanks! -
I will probably get accussed of spamming by some if I do mention it
, so I will just mention the big clue offered in my signature
I don't know about joining with DVDShrink but check out ddloopings cool flash guides
http://www.dvdshrink.info/compilation.php
joining 2 DVD's from an original split is a fuss on really and like I said it's best you just rip it again as you have the original
programs sometimes 'butcher' the DVD when splitting, removing cell references or changing chapter points so merging them isn't impossible but it's sometimes messy and not worth the hassle
