    will the disc play in a PC that I have just recorded onto. if not then how do I get the video on to my harddrive to edit and stuff

    Probably just a matter of copying the files from the disc, if not all the models I have seen come with firewire which is how you move video from a Digital 8 cam to your HD. All you would need in that case is a firewire port.
