I am trying to crop spanish subtitles and am unable to because the cropping screen itself takes up more than my 17" monitor so I can't OK it. Is there anyway this cropping screen can be reduced? Tmpgenc is only if I want it to change it from avi to mpeg and I don't

Another thing is it absolutely essential to resize it once cropped as I am not going to convert it any further but just burn and view it on my divx player.

Once the cropping is done, just hit the RETURN key.

I hit return like you said after cropping in orderto hide the subtitles. I found the resizing too complicated so didn't bother as I wouldn't know what to change them to. I then saved the video in direct stream under a new name and the subtitles are still there! Where could I be going wrong tommyknocker? Please let me know thanks

Well since it didn't work and am still left with the original file it still remains at 720 x 480. Again I don't know how to resize properly, but I doubt that should affect the cropping should it? According to the instructions for cropping there is supposed to be an O.K. button at the bottom of the screen which my cursor will not reach, but you said return would do the same thing and that hasn't seemed to work either. Where do I go from here? Should I full process it maybe?

Since you like TMPGEnc and want AVIs, do this: Load the original video into it, select your template, then select File=>Output to File... then select AVI and your AVI codec. Name your file and hit Save.

I am putting it out as an avi tmpgenc file it hasn't finished yet but so far so good. I wasn't drawn towards tmpgenc at all, quite from it, in fact Virtualdub cropping had it worked would have been my favourable option as it would have been a look quicker to save as a direct stream. If I could only reduce Virtualdub's cropping screen and press OK as per instruction I am sure that too would have solved my problems, since pressing enter didn't seem to do the trick. Oh well
