  1. i just typed loads of stuff but because i had me dinner half way through i lost the lot , grrrr , so here goes again shortened kinda

avi , ac3 ntsc straight to mpeg2 , no i`m not asking how to author , just how the hell do i get the ac3 to synch with the m2v

i have demuxed with vdub and then in tmpgenc author selected both m2v and the demuxed file , that was out of synch , i tried to fix the demuxed file with filesplice ? , still out of synch

the original avi has a piece of animation at the start with no audio so i`m guessing thats where the 2 files are getting there different lengths , so how do i get rid of the animation so that the m2v and demuxed ac3 are the same length

i tried gol;dwave to stretch the audio to the m2v file length but that didnt work it was still out of synch

i`m out of ideas , please take pitty on me and shoot me or help me

    cheers

    OK try this:

Open the avi with vdub (or VdubMod) and go FILE > FILE INFORMATION, what does VD say about the lenght of the video file and the length of the audio file? Gspot should give similar info (use the latest version).

Also check the demuxed audio file is the correct length compared to the original (so open it/play it with a media player to check its length).

  4. the 2 files are of different length m8 , although they play on the pc synched

the reason is there is blank audio at the start of the file , but when demuxed it only takes the audio and not the blank piece

when re-joined to the m2v the audio gets added to early , throwing it out

tried the interleave settings and adding the difference but still no joy

i deleted the damn thing i spent all day sunday , demuxing , converting , reading , i had about 15 different audio files of various types in the end demuxed and none synched

i would like to know why i never got it to work , it was very annoying to have to give up but jeez the hrs spent trying wernt going down well with the mrs

i wrote the time lengths down

    video 1:18.40.429
    audio 1:18.37.063

i calculated a 3366 mil add on at the start of the audio file to make it fit the m2v but that didnt work , when played in tmpgenc auth it was still early , darn thing
