  1. hey everyone... I got a little problem. I got a NEC-1300a and I got the Ritek (ridata) dvd-rw. The rewritables are 4x but my burner only says max speed is 1x. My friend has the NEC 2510 which can burn 4x rewritables but only registers at 2x... always half the speed. Can someone tell me if there is a fix for this problem. I appreciate the time and help.

  2. I've had this happen on different occasions, usually on 'bargain' media. I assume the writing software disagrees with the manufacturer as to the quality of the media.
If it works, don't fix it.

  3. i think on the firmware, they write a specific list of media codes and what those codes are allowed to write at.

so you might want to try upgrading your firmware for your drive, and that might solve your problem.

i don't own the same burner (i have an LG burner) but I know I've had to upgrade the firmware to deal with new discs and such before.

A google search brought me to some good sites and now my 1300 has no more locks. It was originally HP 300i with + only. Now it is + and -.
It's time to kick some butts, and presto ( if you know what I mean )
